Need some suggestions...Experiencing Problems with Destiny's Sound, Menu Speed, and Freezing.

I've never addressed the community in this fashion, but I have a problem with Destiny that I'm not finding a lot of answers for searching the web. Hope to find some suggestions here. Basically, where after playing for something like an hour, I start to experience problems. This is how the progression goes: -Sound starts to cut in and out. This would be the destiny in game sounds. Sometimes a few sound effects like a gun shooting or picking up and engram will still work, but the game music will be off. Other times all the sounds will turn off. Party Chat will work 100% fine while Destiny is experiencing these issues. Frequently there will be speedy "catch up" of in game verbal messages that didn't get played, and then at one moment the game will spit them all out really fast. -Menu loading items will go slow. Going to the menu, none of your weapons/armor/items will actually show up. That swirling "thinking" icon is present. Basically can't select a different weapon in your inventory to use, but your game play speed in game is still fine. Picking up engrams will just show an icon on the side with the same swirling thinking icon. It's like game play still goes smoothly. This can get "better" sometimes and stop happening before it gets worse. -Game eventually locks up after a wipe or finishing an activity like a strike. last night during the raid, after a wipe, got locked up on the post game damage/death screen and was completely locked out of the game otherwise. Going to the dashboard will work initially, but then when trying to close Destiny via dashboard, the system will lock up. Another time, I was able to close destiny via dashboard and restart without the system locking up. -If turning off the system after things lock up like this, the xbox wont actually shut down promptly. The blinking light will go for awhile (>30 mins) or simply never stop and you are forced to pull the plug on the power supply. -After pulling the plug, the xbox and game will boot up fine, but then the cycle has started over again after about 30 mins to an hour. First had this problem come up on Sunday. I should note that I've had the sound cut in and out before, but it was very brief and didn't really lead to any other problems. My ideas to address this so far are: -Do nothing, hope it goes away (not working so far). -Dust the xbox with air spray (maybe I have a lot of dust in there and it's causing a thermal problem? the issue does take some time to manifest after all, which could correlate to rising electronics temperature) -Uninstalled and reinstall Destiny (seems like it will be easy, but downloading and reinstalling all the post disc updates could take hours) Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Your problem can be either software or physical at this point (which you seem to know). None of the issues you mentioned are standard or widespread on the forum so I'd assume they're specifically issues on your end, and thus, something to do with your system in some way. I'd assume it's heat-related (as you surmised) because it does get steadily worse after a set amount of time. If you've given the system plenty of room to breathe and don't have it sitting on a carpet/floor and not on a soft surface, then it reduces that chance, but it really all depends on things. If other games lock up after a set amount of time as well, then this probably is your issue; if not, then it may be the Destiny files. If you have no other games to check or they don't lock up as well, then I'd recommend doing the uninstall/reinstall first, as that's something you can do without chancing blowing more dust around inside your system (which can cause its own problems). If an uninstall/reinstall doesn't fix the issue, then I'd work on cleaning the system, but take care when you do so; try not to jostle the system if you can help it, even though it's going to be unplugged (unplug it and take any disk out that's in it). Good luck!
