Summary of my main point: Every time you're done getting your highest level drops for the week on a character (think nightfall, raid, etc) open up a full set of days of iron gear to put all that high level gear to your next character, and repeat until you're max level on all three. The class items are the most difficult to deal with because of the high book requirement, so I usually subbed in faction packages. If you don't have any days of iron gear unlocked yet, this wont really work for you.
