In the Undying Mind Strike if you end up getting the Precursor Vex in the middle section, you can essentially skip this entire section and safely kill the Cyclops from around the corner.

This doesn't seem to be very common knowledge, but it speeds up the strike significantly so you don't have to spend several minutes fighting the Precursor Vex. With Match Game this week the Precusor Minotaurs can be especially annoying. Only downside is you don't get the juicy orb train people love in this strike!
Essentially all it involves is using your sword and breaching through the barrier as they're spawning. You then run up the hill around the corner, and snipe down the Cyclops. A couple of basic enemies will run at you but they're pretty simple to deal with, and once you kill the Cyclops you can continue to the end. You can also Titan fly around to the left up to the same area, not sure if that one works on all classes though - I usually just sword through the barrier.
If you weren't fast enough to beat the enemies, can simply wipe and try again. if you're with a team and only one person makes it, after the Cyclops dies they can run to the boss and pull you all through. You can also tell if you're going to have Taken or Vex on this section by when the objective changes. If the objective "Proceed Through The Interior Passage" pops up at the top of the bridge before you even enter the room, it will be Taken. Otherwise it'll be Vex, so you can use this to plan accordingly.
And as a little sidenote, the entire strike can be pretty much cheesed/done with safe spots. These are a lot more common, but for those who were unaware here you are.

Not too many people seem to be aware of this skip, so figured it would be helpful to some!

you know thats not skipping right?
-
That is the best part of all the strikes out there. Having done almost 6000 of them, I would know. You can back to back (and so on) supers for days. Everyone who did the missions create 7 orbs 3 times for the class emblems in one strike knows this is where they went because it's so easy. If you guys want speed runs for exotics, do the Knight on the dreadnought, some of us actually like killing stuff.
-
Cool. Now can someone explain to me how the undying minds cannons are void?
-
3 Voidwalkers with OM + BJ and the part is done in no time. Purple rain, purple rain I only want to see you bathing in the purple rain
-
Useful for soloing I presume? I agree though that if it's done right this is a brilliant part of the strike. Regardless of what I'm doing I switch to bad juju and obsidian mind for it 😀
-
Just use NB, FoH, HoS, GG, NS, SC, BD, SS to generate orbs for more destruction. I don't understand how people hate that part.... I love it because if you can get 2 hunters to tether 3 minotaurs and FoH them you get all the orbs plus all your supers are back. This is my favourite part of the strike lol
-
So the first 2 cheese worked great. The last one though ha, I got lit up by the boss and by nades from the enemies ha. Could not survive up there.
-
Nice post! But it wasn't too bad ....
-
Totally unnecessary...
-
But this is the best part of the strike tho. Endless super/orbs
-
Didn't they fix the cheese spot from the Aug 23rd boss fight video?
-
Minotaurs aren't a problem cuz telesto is the besto
-
I wouldn't necessarily call this a cheese. Just running ahead before the barrier spawns.
-
You reloaded when triple tap proc'd. I cringed. 😣
-
Does anyone notice that the Undying Mind does void damage now but his bolts are still red? It's really annoying on void burn
-
Edited by Jared: 10/12/2016 6:14:05 PMi literally do this every time i enter the strike.... have been as far back as i can remember
-
I like how all these pro cheese people have like a 15 KD in strikes. How is it possible that you people are so awful? No wonder you need to cheat.
-
Or, here's a thought, you actually play the strike the way it's meant to be played.
-
Edited by Killakropp: 10/12/2016 6:08:05 PMLol tried this last night and didnt know u had to use the sword. Ran smack dab right into that invisible barrier. Lol. Ended up running out of there and spent an hour luring them back out into the other area and sniping and rocketing them one by one. Lol. Derp Oh btw, love yur vids dude. I personally like soloing nightfalls. Its just fun
-
Sweet, soloing made easier.
-
Why does everyone think that this is the most fun part of the strike? This part is just tedious and never seems to end...
i am ready
-
Oh okay. This explains why some guys die way up the steps as if they didn't know the strike.Good to know they were trying something and not just being dense. I'm not a fan of that strike at all,but I really find that section tedious. It was fun at first, but when you're running strikes for a couple of hours at a time getting through that section over and over starts to feel like slogging through mud.
-
Telesto is your friend this week. And that's an understatement.
-
It's great fun if you're just doing normal strikes or burns. Most people that skip it are going to be solo runners like me. :) But if I'm in a group I love trashing Axis Vex for a good 2 minutes. However, in a Nightfall, it can also just be painful. So that's why they skip it. It's more of a 'Am I in the mood for killing? Or for completing the strike fast?'
-
I honestly hate it when people do this. Play the damn strike how it's intended and spend a minute or two spamming supers with your teammates.
-
How to skip the best part of the strike? Literally shortchanging yourself a ton of fun.
