I was playing Archon's forge to think about something else, because my great-grandmother died today (she was age 92 if you were wondering) and my first legendary drop was this sniper.
I don't know if it was a message from heaven or something because this weapon name ("But not forgotten") and description ("Not even the dead are truly gone.") really fits with what happened to me today. She is gone, but she will never be forgotten in my heart, RIP my great grandmother, this weapon is going to represent you to me, a memory of who you were.
Thanks a lot Bungie for creating a beautiful and unique sniper that you probably didn't expect someone to give it such a significance to it. Coincidences can make really beautiful things, and today, it proved to me that it can happen.
TL;DR I got a sniper that really fits with the death of a relative of mine. RIP to my grand-grandmother.
If you want to cheer me up, go ahead, I really want this community to stick together and help eachother in the moments where it matters the most, also, this isn't a post where I just wrote just so I get your empathy to me, as I said, I just wanted to talk about what this weapon is going to mean to me.
Edit: Added the description of the weapon and fixed a typo.
Edit #2: Thanks for the support, you've been giving to me, it's not really easy to me right now and it makes me happy to see all of you caring about a fellow guardian. I wasn't expecting much about it tbh. I will add a clarification as for why I used the word "heaven" in the text, it is because of the religious belief of her and I respect what she believed in, if it was any other religion, I would've used the word representing a "good place after one's life" for the proper religion of said person.
Edit #3: Over 500 replies! Wow, that's just amazing, it makes me feel better to know that you can care about something like this so much. I thank each and everyone of you who replied with a positive comment. I hope this story will make you think how deep connections can happen, and to everyone living in a situation similar to me, I say "Keep your head up and stay stong, even with what you're living through.". Finally, it makes me happy to know that some people pretty much gave this weapon a significance close to mine, in honor of a close relative who passed away recently.
Edit #4 (probably last one): Over 1000 replies! I never thought it would go up that high, I'm used to normally 10 or so replies maximum, but this, this is just amazing! Thank you again for the support you've been giving me, it really makes a difference and I'm happy to know that you do help me, even though we don't even know eachother at all. That's what's awesome about this community.

It is rapidly becoming my favorite sniper. My grandparents were assholes. I'm jealous you got good ones.

Hey buddy, I think it's pretty cool that something like this happened and you made it mean something to you. Obviously not cool that your grandma passed away, but that you have connected her memory to something you enjoy. Don't listen to all the trolls on here being insensitive pricks, they just have nothing better to do. Remember your great grandmother however you want, even if it's small things that make you remember her, it's those small things that keep her memory alive no matter what they are. Be strong and carry on Guardian.

When you gotta go you gotta go RIP granny 👵🏽✌🏽️

Edited by Cayde: 9/30/2016 5:43:13 PMI'm so sorry for your loss; I lost my great-grandfather at age 6, and I know how painful it is to lose someone so close to you. My prayers and condolences.
Too bad you won't be able to transfer it over to Destiny 2. :/
It's a good sniper too. You'll like it that is if you like snipers. Kinda reminds me of Stillpiercer a little bit
-
I'm sorry for your loss man, ignore these assholes.

Edited by Flip: 9/30/2016 4:39:11 PMNice story and it is a great looking weapon. To bad snipers are forgotten in this game.. sad that shotguns are the reason for the downfall of this game being on the competitive scene.

This community actually makes me sick... Read some of these comments I mean I'm not religious but I'm not going to smash someone for their beliefs or mourning a dead loved one. My thoughts are with you though I lost my great grandfather 3 years ago and it was one of the saddest moments of my life hearing he was gone and then seeing him in the coffin was hell.
-
I don't really do empathy, and I'm not much for believing in heaven n what not. But i find it cool that you now have an in game memento that you can keep in remembrance to your great grandmother. Neat.
-
Sorry for your loss, keep your head up!
-
Many blessings!

so self rez wasn't charged?
just trying to brighten things up a bit. :/
You should use the sniper wherever you go (raids etc...), its just like if you were carrying her soul into the battlefield and showing her the world of Destiny. My condolences, Guardian.
-
Sorry for your loss. That's a pretty cool story tho.
-
Sounds like grandma sent a lil something your way....
-
Hey man, im sorry for your loss. Losing someone is never easy. I wish you and your family the best in these times. May i ask if she died peacefully?
