I was playing Archon's forge to think about something else, because my great-grandmother died today (she was age 92 if you were wondering) and my first legendary drop was this sniper.
I don't know if it was a message from heaven or something because this weapon name ("But not forgotten") and description ("Not even the dead are truly gone.") really fits with what happened to me today. She is gone, but she will never be forgotten in my heart, RIP my great grandmother, this weapon is going to represent you to me, a memory of who you were.
Thanks a lot Bungie for creating a beautiful and unique sniper that you probably didn't expect someone to give it such a significance to it. Coincidences can make really beautiful things, and today, it proved to me that it can happen.
TL;DR I got a sniper that really fits with the death of a relative of mine. RIP to my grand-grandmother.
If you want to cheer me up, go ahead, I really want this community to stick together and help eachother in the moments where it matters the most, also, this isn't a post where I just wrote just so I get your empathy to me, as I said, I just wanted to talk about what this weapon is going to mean to me.
Edit: Added the description of the weapon and fixed a typo.
Edit #2: Thanks for the support, you've been giving to me, it's not really easy to me right now and it makes me happy to see all of you caring about a fellow guardian. I wasn't expecting much about it tbh. I will add a clarification as for why I used the word "heaven" in the text, it is because of the religious belief of her and I respect what she believed in, if it was any other religion, I would've used the word representing a "good place after one's life" for the proper religion of said person.
Edit #3: Over 500 replies! Wow, that's just amazing, it makes me feel better to know that you can care about something like this so much. I thank each and everyone of you who replied with a positive comment. I hope this story will make you think how deep connections can happen, and to everyone living in a situation similar to me, I say "Keep your head up and stay stong, even with what you're living through.". Finally, it makes me happy to know that some people pretty much gave this weapon a significance close to mine, in honor of a close relative who passed away recently.
Edit #4 (probably last one): Over 1000 replies! I never thought it would go up that high, I'm used to normally 10 or so replies maximum, but this, this is just amazing! Thank you again for the support you've been giving me, it really makes a difference and I'm happy to know that you do help me, even though we don't even know eachother at all. That's what's awesome about this community.

You just had to put the cringy edits

So other than that, hows the gun

So a few months back I had a friend OD and die. 85% of the comments on here were positive. However, some people stated that I was doing it for attention. I know you wouldn't waste time with such a serious topic from such meaningless fodder on the forums. I do wish you well and fast healing. Cherish your new weapon and may it always be a reminder of your loss.

May she rest in peace
-
Nice.
-
Nice! I have the sniper too but never use it. Now when i see it though, it will remind me of your great grandma :)
-
Wow that's awesome.. I'm glad something is helping you cope. My grandmother died a few months back and I just keep thinkin it never happened. That's the only way I can even deal with it.. This is actually the first time I'm even talking about her death... And of all places this toxic forum... idk why but anyway see you starside guardian.
-
That's a nice roll. I'd keep it for sure.
-
Kinda weird, but also pretty cool. You've gotta love things like that. Things you just can't quite understand no matter how hard you contemplate them.
-
Sorry for your loss
-
This place is unbelievable. Someone makes a post about their grandmas death and it instantly turns into people picking on whether or not heaven is real and making lame jokes about it. But that's a great story, I'm sorry about your grandmother
-
Congrats man! Too bad you probably cannot take it to Destiny 2...
-
Darn im still looking for that sniper I could have sworn I left it in the forge that isn't it is it? congrats and sorry for your loss
-
Sorry for your loss dude. I can relate; my dad died of ALS when I was 6. Light on Guardian.
-
while my situation wasnt excatly like yours, i too used destiny to get me through a rough time in my life. The game had just come out completely when i needed a destraction the most. I played this and went to the gym and it made my life so much better.. sorry for your loss. keep grinding
-
92 years is a long time for a human. She lived long and I'm sure very happily. Glad to see you found a coping mechanism, and hopefully the trolls will be few and far between.
-
Be Brave, Guardian. We're all with you. The pain of loss is a pain worth feeling for those you loved.

Omnigul understands
take care guardian
Yeah.. great place to grieve over your grandma. The same place where you ignored your grandma because you had to do 1 more strike or raid is the same place you are now getting condolences. Drop the controller and help out one of your family members who aren't on a video game/forum. This might be mean, but there is more to life than destiny. When you get on here to talk about your dead grandma and a sniper rifle while your family is hurting, i think you need to rearrange your priorities.
-
Damn, those aren't tears... they are eye sweats...
you and your family are in my prayers
I play to take my mind off my mom's cancer and my C R I P P L I N G D E P R E S S I O N

This is fantastic and the exact reason I play destiny. My grand mother died a year or so ago and I was lost but I fought through. But not shortly after I found out my wife had cheated for a second time and now we are in the process of divorce. It's hard knowing I haven't even thought about dating and she has gone through 3 boyfriends all ready since and destiny is my escape. The earth may crumble around you guardian but you stand strong and you remain. Keep pushing keep shooting keep fighting. Let's go kill some splicers

It's like stillpiercer but better
-
My friend was using it in trials and was tearing people to shreds
-
Best coincidence ever.

Sorry for your loss.
but you go that based on RNG. Wasn't a message from the heavens. (I don't think it exists)
