I was playing Archon's forge to think about something else, because my great-grandmother died today (she was age 92 if you were wondering) and my first legendary drop was this sniper.
I don't know if it was a message from heaven or something because this weapon name ("But not forgotten") and description ("Not even the dead are truly gone.") really fits with what happened to me today. She is gone, but she will never be forgotten in my heart, RIP my great grandmother, this weapon is going to represent you to me, a memory of who you were.
Thanks a lot Bungie for creating a beautiful and unique sniper that you probably didn't expect someone to give it such a significance to it. Coincidences can make really beautiful things, and today, it proved to me that it can happen.
TL;DR I got a sniper that really fits with the death of a relative of mine. RIP to my grand-grandmother.
If you want to cheer me up, go ahead, I really want this community to stick together and help eachother in the moments where it matters the most, also, this isn't a post where I just wrote just so I get your empathy to me, as I said, I just wanted to talk about what this weapon is going to mean to me.
Edit: Added the description of the weapon and fixed a typo.
Edit #2: Thanks for the support, you've been giving to me, it's not really easy to me right now and it makes me happy to see all of you caring about a fellow guardian. I wasn't expecting much about it tbh. I will add a clarification as for why I used the word "heaven" in the text, it is because of the religious belief of her and I respect what she believed in, if it was any other religion, I would've used the word representing a "good place after one's life" for the proper religion of said person.
Edit #3: Over 500 replies! Wow, that's just amazing, it makes me feel better to know that you can care about something like this so much. I thank each and everyone of you who replied with a positive comment. I hope this story will make you think how deep connections can happen, and to everyone living in a situation similar to me, I say "Keep your head up and stay stong, even with what you're living through.". Finally, it makes me happy to know that some people pretty much gave this weapon a significance close to mine, in honor of a close relative who passed away recently.
Edit #4 (probably last one): Over 1000 replies! I never thought it would go up that high, I'm used to normally 10 or so replies maximum, but this, this is just amazing! Thank you again for the support you've been giving me, it really makes a difference and I'm happy to know that you do help me, even though we don't even know eachother at all. That's what's awesome about this community.

Sorry about your loss bro. I hope all is well with you and your family. Keep grinding hard guardian. We have your back. Don't listen to the trolls. They clearly weren't loved enough by their family.

Edited by Sarigan: 9/30/2016 2:59:15 PMMy dog died last year the day before no time to explain was available. Going through that quest helped, and I always remember the pooch when I use it. So I get you on some level. I wish you well, guardian.

Just lost my father recently. Sucks man. Any positive associations are great though. Glad you made a positive connection in a game. When it comes down to it thats what gaming is all about...enjoyment and happiness.

Prayers going up for you...

Nice post! I got one last night too - with Braced frame, exploding rounds and Firefly - looking forward to it this evening. What a cool looking gun.

While I am sorry for your loss, it makes me happy that you have found something that helps with it.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. I've lost all of my grandparents and it's never easy. It does get better with time. Wishing you and your family comfort in your time of need. .

I sympathize with you. I lost my Grandmother last year. The realization that she died did not hit me. Until my mom and I went to say goodbye to Grandma before her burial. When I looked at her my throat closed up and I could only cry. My thought, the sniper rifle dropped for a reason. What the reason is I couldn't say.

Sorry for your loss, Guardian.

helps that it's a good sniper too.

Edited by Heidran: 9/30/2016 12:19:59 PMMy cousin died a few years ago, young kid. Only 18. I put a guitar pick in his coffin at the funeral. When I got home, changed out of my dress clothes, the pick fell out of my pocket. Very possible in my sadness that I just didn't put it in there (more than likely the case) but still, it felt like a message. I understand how you feel, chin up guardian, all will be well. ✊

Sorry for your loss man. I hope you will remember that moment all your life. The only moment I have of my great grandmother is the week I was born. #ButNotForgotten
-
I'm glad it gave you some comfort. My great-grandmother also passed away, albeit a few years ago. We were very close and I also enjoy and find comfort in stories that encourage the kind of sentiment Saladin has for his friends. No one is truly dead, so long as we carry them with us.

Wow, all these kids on here acting like their so hard. Such a sad commentary on the human race. Honestly, sometimes I think the internet has braught more harm than good.
-
Condolences. Prayers lifted. I hope you can ignore the negativity. Many of us care because we all have been there. Take care, guardian.
-
Sorry for your loss. May your light burn stronger, Guardian.

Good post. That sniper looks cool as heck. I like how it handles too. ...very cool coincidence, btw!
