Hand Cannons and why they should be removed
I had a long ass block of text before but I accidentally closed out of the tab... So I'm going to just be brief.
There are 4 primary weapon types, Scout Rifles, Pulse Rifles, Auto Rifles, and Hand Cannons.
Hand Cannons don't have a place in the circle of life. Scouts are long ranged, Pulse is mid, and auto rifle is short.
Hand Cannons just take up the place of another weapon type, usually causing most of that weapon type to be useless.
Hand Cannons don't belong in the game. Certain hand cannons likes TLW, Thorn year one, and hawkmoon were and kinda still are game breaking. Plus some legendary ones that I don't feel like spelling.
This is not a hate post. Just my opinion.

2 RepliesA revolver, a hand CANNON! I would like to make a counteractive argument based on a few simple facts 1 the cowboys used them as primary weapons. As to a good deal of people. Today (including character in destiny lore) 2 the connotation of cannon is powerful artillery like weapon. 3 a primary weapon shouldn't be a backup for your secondary weapon is should be the exact opposite (primary, secondary. They don't just throw these terms around) 4 while hand cannons may be "wierd" for you to use and they stretch across multiple ranges, that doesn't mean that they disrupt the balance of the entire game and we should drop everything to remove them. As that will throw the games balance into even more disarray. 5 saying that revolvers and pistols should be classified as sidearms (I'm talking to those people who say a hand cannon should be made a sidearm) is Like saying light machine guns, assault rifles, and sub machine guns all need to be classified together because they're full auto. We will conclude at six by saying this: most law enforcement agencies use pistols, but not revolvers, this is because the magnitude of a revolver shot is far too lethal for the potential risk of killing anyone that you may desire to simply incapacitate this further establishes the difference between a revolver and pistol. My opinion, but with facts to support it.

12 RepliesOr maybe ar's should be more varied and are taking up the place where hc's should be... What are your exact problems with cannons? Please be logical and fair with a response. Especially considering Destiny is one of the only games of it's kind that utilizes them as a primary firearm, and that they're completely integral to my experience in the game

There are 4 primary pants types, Jeans, Khakis, Slacks, and Shorts. Shorts don't have a place in the drawer of pants. Slacks are high business, khakis are mid, and jeans are none. Shorts just take up the place of another pants type, usually causing less of that pants type to fit in the drawer. Shorts don't belong in the drawer. Certain types of shorts like Jean Shorts, Athletic shorts, and cargo shorts were and kinda still are game changers. Plus some expensive ones that i don't feel like paying for. This is not a hate post, just my opinion.

1 ReplyI hate to say it but I kind of agree with you, they've tried their hardest to put pistols into this game, in the form of hand cannons and sidearms, the unfortunate thing is they are nearly impossible to balance with the multitude of other weapons that we have at our disposal. We couldn't just get rid of them and lose great lore like that of last word and thorn though could we? I don't think they are going anywhere.

1 ReplyTLW, thorn, and hawkmoon all have something in common. Their exotic perks revolve around dealing increased damage. Especially in year one, but even now. Unfortunately, it's exceptionally hard to balance primaries when three of them have bonuses that can significantly and consistently shorten your time to kill. It was even more blatant on thorn due to the dot also preventing regen and adding information not normally able to be know as far as exact position of your opponent. It just so happened that all of the exotics that had bonuses that significantly shorten time to kill in year one were hand cannons. Suros had that, too, but it was quickly changed due to the overwhelming use of it in crucible, coupled with a general nerf to auto rifles. It's the same now but to a lesser degree. TLW still has a higher fire rate than any other hand cannon due to its exotic perk, resulting in a faster kill time. Hawkmoon can still two shot headshot and the forgiving nature of triple luck in the chamber bullets means that even a body shot can do as much as a precision. Thorn still adds damage to every shot you land, even nerfed, no other hand cannon gives you bonus damage to [i]every single shot[/i]. In conclusion, buff auto rifles damage but not their range.
