Been a pretty regular morning. Dailies and some Destiny.
Got around to some strikes. Man are some of you BlueBerries efficient with Solar Damage. Anyhow, decided to cash in on some rewards, and when I got to Orbit, I got the message about the World Reboot. Decided to take a moment to lay down my controller and make another post.
You know, I think I've played Destiny more than any game ... ever ... It's hard to say it's my favorite, and to be honest, I'm not sure that it is. But I keep playing it, and I like it for the most part. I've tried to be an active player, and forum poster for a long time. Changed my U.N. a ton, always trying to reflect how I felt.
Sometimes I'd rage with Lost Sols and Malphisto in FEEDBACK. Man, I've been banned at least 10 times for that garbage. But it always seems real. I think the main reason why sometimes I, and many other people, are so critical and toxic of Destiny, is because of the Legacy this genre and company has. I don't think any of us expected to just get a "good shooter"; we were all expecting more, THE BEST SHOOTER, perhaps. Something even better than the original Halo.
But at the same time, I've tried my best to support Destiny too. Try to become a MENTOR, or a NINJA; anything to show that I bleed LIGHT like the rest of us. Tomorrow is the big day. Originally, Destiny 2 was supposed to be here. I have so many concerns about why Rise Of Iron is dropping instead. I'm hyped, I'm ready, but in my gut I think it's another disappointment for the road.
Character Level remains untouched. Light Level is being inflated again. No word on the Lost Exotics heavily promoted and showcased on the official website armory. No news on the amount of banned cheaters, or new methods to stop them. No info on 4K upgrades or upscaling. Complete radio silence on the new raid weapons having burns, as well as stored bounties and engrams carrying over.
These are a few of my concerns, not including why the TTK raid waiting a week to release, with plenty of sidequests leading up to it, while this raid drops just 72 hours after launch. I am worried about why this DLC pack has been the most spoiled and heavily hyped/promoted in Destiny's history. Not to bring up #gamewhichmustnotbenamed, but the recent failure of No Man Sky hype has me worried that Bungie has its back against the wall, and (for some reason) absolutely needs Rise of Iron to sell 10 Million copies to keep Destiny 2 rolling smooth.
Acitivision gave these guys half a billion dollars for this franchise. And yes. I said "B" as in BILLION. I have no idea why they would still need more money, when they haven't even released game 2. But, I didn't make this massive post just to take a seat on this game.
_ _ _ _ _
I also have hope. Bungie and its Developers have VERY SLOWLY made progressive steps every generation of this game. I hope they DO NOT take steps backwards, to increase grind or profits, and CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD and put the player first, before their pride, their profits, and their ego.
I had the Moments of Triumph completed before they came out, so my goal was to hit max grimoire before the summer ended, and Rise of Iron came out. I did come up 1 Grimoire Card and 5 points shy, but Doubles haven't been featured for a while now. So I'm stuck at 5150, but hey, who's really counting?
TL;DR
In closing, I just wanted to take a moment of silence to reflect on the good times. The sad times. The times we will never forget, and the times that made us want to quit. Everything has compiled into this game that has very much so become OUR game.
It's scary to think how much we players, and this forum, has DIRECTLY SHAPED the future of this game. What other franchise can say the players have the loudest voice in what direction changes are featured. I will never say that this game is perfect. I might not even say it is my favorite, but I know one thing for sure, I'm in it till the end now.
And I'm glad I've got you guys with me, to face whatever Darkness awaits on the other side.
Cheers,
~Ess~
