I've noticed that each of the 4 DLCs has a certain color associated with it, and that it matches with the different levels of rarity in the game.
First, we have Vanilla, which we'll say is white (partially due to the fact that there's no other color that defines it as it is, partially because of the Vault of Glass and emphasis on the Traveller).
Then, we have The Dark Below, which for various reasons is associated with the color green.
Next, House of Wolves, which is blue.
Now, The Taken King, clearly purple.
Finally, Rise of Iron; judging by the symbol on the title screen, it will be associated with yellow.

after trashing the story due to contraints of the console (ses "GDC2015 - destiny siy years in the making" ), bungie had its original content cut into several pieces and sold them separately.. in the picture you can see the original plan for release.. you can also see that ROI was originally named "plague of darkness" and was supposed to be the first "comet" release (a mayor update) in the picture you can see "Dark below" and "house of wolves" then followed by the Comet "plague of darkness" which is most likely what we will see as "ROI" please be also aware that the "Story" progression you have today in Destiny doesnt represent the orginal story line which was more focused on a revealing the travellers true nature and went to the planets in a different order. TTK was supposed to be the showdown of destiny 1 and was supposed to be coupled with crotas end (dark below) (did you ever asked why the mission shrine of oryx has no real place in the progression of the story, its "just another mission" that suddenly appears on the map with no clue leading towards it.) so destiny had about 5 pieces whacked away from its original story line and bungie decided to put them back together later as a dlc.. what is stil completely missing - storyline about a character "The Crow" and the guardians without ghosts - the compete background story about the Cabal (forge of Gods) - sparrow racing to flee an enraged Ogre (Gamerant article about some testplayers at Bungie, would really see this coming life =D ) - the complete story of Osiris.. which is a "Jedi" like Guardian that has errected colonies away from the city. like mercury (the lighthouse is the social space on mercury.. a refugee haven after the player would have finally found out the travellers true nature ) the only point where i did not find any clue was vex void.. since the only thing we have about the vex is Vault of glass, and finally one more story mission "undying mind" that was supposed to lead us there but was rehashed as a normal strike .. (you can spot abandoned story missions with the greyed out corpses (see first mission the dead fallen walker after you leave the wall ) same on mercury under the landing area the "secret" room below.. so basically there are still many stories to be told in the destiny universe but i have no clue if the new writers can make any sense of the mess bungie left behind.. i am still waiting for the iconic scene "why is the city breathing down my neck" with crow and the guardian come to life in real ..

Destiny is an inside job
-
Well, during the livestreams, the first ones, the Dev did say that Rise of Iron contained content that was supposed to be in House of wolves, primarily the raid, and instead of Prison we would have Archon's Forge to mirror Oryx's court in the Taken King. Now, Siva, devil splicers, the plaguelands, and Iron Lords storyline might be the new fresh additions, but other than that, the rest was content intended to be in House of Wolves.
-
Probably not. Destiny 2 was supposed to be released this fall. Would be pretty stupid to release a DLC then like 2 months later release a new game

Edited by Benzene21: 9/19/2016 6:29:38 PMYes. And?? It is well known that video game companies plan things way before they release them. You think they come up with all this in one week?
-
Yes it was intentional. Originally not though
-
There's content I've glitches into before we even got Croat and now that I look back in it, all of these dlc were in the game already in some form. Just locked.
-
So what you're trying to say is nerf fusion rifles?
-
Many DLC areas have been in the game since the beta/alpha.
-
I believe the colour you are referring to as purple was indeed maroon... or off red at most. If you look up title screen shots, or title shots with each prefix destiny, the dark below and house of wolves; you will see white the destiny symbol associated with Vanilla, green in dark below and blue with house of wolves. Same goes with ROI being yellow. However the taken king was not a purple symbol. Good theory though.
-
I think for a long time bungie made up their mind on what DLCs would be releasing. It is a good point about the color tiers though, nice job.
-
If by start you mean the moment activi$ion didnt agree with the supercut (whole begin and end story of destiny 1) And cut taken king from vanilla and made bungie push europa, european dead zone, mars raid, strikes, social place etc to destiny 2 then yeah...yeah they planned it from the beginning.

Edited by Enoch: 9/19/2016 8:35:43 AMI'm pretty sure in the kotaku article "what happened to destinys story" the original story was supposed to end on the dreadnaught I'll link article if I can find it Edit pretty interesting read http://kotaku.com/the-messy-true-story-behind-the-making-of-destiny-1737556731

Edited by TwistedHorizen: 9/18/2016 3:52:31 PMBungie actually stated there were suppose to only be 3, DB, HoW, and TTK. RoI was only added because of delays to destiny 2.
-
No, roi, was not part of the plan.
-
well the original scope was initial release, to moderate dlc then a considerable one then 2 more small ones, bungie could not stick to their original scope and we got the shaft.
-
That's usually how companies work. They have a huge game complete and ready, cut some stuff out and sell it to you as DLC over a period of time
-
It was, ever since activision joined bungie. In the 2013 trailers you can see the drednaught.
-
The game was rushed to release before it was done, so they moved a lot of the content to the DLC. There's a brief clip from one of the early trailers that shows an ogre on the Dreadnought. Destiny is structured a lot like an MMO, so it's very likely that paid expansions were planned from the very beginning.
-
I think you're reading way to far into this... They stare at the same game hud and UI all day for months.. change of scenery is nice. That's all.
-
The Taken King symbol color is red though, not purple.
-
I'm sure the first 3 were planned. Bungie confirmed that rise of iron was a last minute decision in January after destiny 2 was delayed.
-
Lol, no shit Sherlock

Should try warframe...all dlc is free...

Oh boy, here comes the spinfoil hat brigade.
