Nice theory but:
Exo's were never human.
It's right in the grimoire under races. Their cerebral architecture is closely matched to humans but that's about it. So that may impact your narrative some.
Rewrite it with that info in mind. I'd be interested to read it. /:)

They transferred over the humans consciousness into the Exo bodies basically
-
Many probably were but had their minds erased and told they were just machines. I'm caydes journal it's heavily hinted he was a human turned exo.
-
They weren't but the human's consciousnesses were transferred to the new body.
-
"Cayde used to be a human soldier with a large debt over his head, when he was approached by Clovis Bray to have his debt removed. The job offer itself isn't explicitly stated, but what Cayde remembers next is coming to Europa where he was converted into an Exo."
-
One of the exos explains his own ideas of how he came to be and he said why botber modeling exos in the human form or giving us emotions if we are meant to be war machines. His thoughts somone wanted to live forever.
-
My understanding is that many exo's were human. Clovis Bray began the exo experiment in an attempt to expand exploration into horribly harsh environments that humans could not survive. They were made and had actual human being cryo frozen and then their consciousness was placed into the exo "container" using golden age/traveler technology. Then the collapse happened and... whoops... all those "humans" now are stuck in exo bodies. Now look, I am not claiming in any way to be some lore expert. I'm not. I'm just stating that on the few occasions I have researched the golden age, exos, Cayde, and the collapse, that was my understanding of it.
-
Cayde was human at one point. As long as certain parts of their bodies are intact, exo's can be created from dead humans. Although I'm sure there are exo's built from scratch, there are cases of dead humans being built into them.
-
Ah. Well I've learned something new then. Carry on. /:)

Edited by Cerbberuss: 9/14/2016 7:18:04 PMCayde 6 was human before he took up an offer from Clovis Bray. At their facility on Europa is where his conscientiousness was transferred into an Exo frame and became the Cayde 6 we know now. You can find all this info in the book that came with TTKs collectors edition.

Hmm, guess I need to actually read that. I've had that hard copy package with the book and coin and everything and well, just never got around to reading it. It's good, eh? Is it the book that the strange coin was in? I forget what all came in that packaging now.
-
Yeah that book. The one the strange coin came in. Caydes journal.
-
Sweet, thanks. Will give it a read for sure now.
-
No problem. He had a thing for someone too. Read it and see. Don't want to spoil your experience :P
-
Cayde was a human, now he is exo...
-
Nope. Read the cards. Listen to the cutscenes. The Traveler made HUGE advancement in sciences, including robotics and AI, possible and the Exo's were part of that. I believe it says they were originally created for war. Seriously, go read the grimoire, not fan fics, and listen to what's said about them as you play. I just went and reread to verify. It's literally all right there. /:)

bungie actually confirms this in a gameinformer podcast.
-
You need to read caydes journal. The only bit of lore bungie has written outside of grimoire. It shows cayde before he was exo as a human mercenary working for Clovis bray and him after he became exo
-
Edited by A_R8_SPYDER: 9/14/2016 7:33:22 PMYeah cuz Cayde has too much humor to have never been a human
-
I haven't read it but that would completely contradict the grimoire which shows they were created. Super advanced, human like architecture, sure, but not that they were ever human. I'd be interested to read it regardless. Link?
-
They were created, then the copy of an existing human mind transferred to the machine frame. The human body dies but their consciousness lives on. http://www.destinypedia.com/Cayde's_Treasure_Island_Book
-
Exos were created but their consciousness comes from human mind to keep great talent and great mind alive after human body is unable to carry it.
