HAND CANNONS: Range without Accuracy is IMPOTENCY

Extending the range of any hand cannon is a waste. With the current state of accuracy in hand-cannons, Bungie is contradicting their own stated purpose of the hand cannon class. The whole point of a hand cannon is the feeling you get from skillfully and steadily lining up a head shot. I implore Bungie to take another look at how they've tuned hand cannons. I'd rather they increase damage fall off, or lower target acquisition than take away the enjoyment of being able to line up yellow numbers. Please reconsider hand cannons on the next weapon balance, Bungie. Let's please bump this till we get a reply Edit: Just got done with some strikes. I land many headshots, but it really is painful when my First Curse is aimed straight at an alien's head (mid range) and the number comes up white. Edit: If you hate hand cannons and think they're over powered, just keep in mind I'm only asking Bungie to reconsider things. They're not gonna automatically do something just cause a nobody posted it. They have their own brains and can and well could say "no." Just FYI Edit: Also...don't assume PvP is the only venue that matters. That's rude. Edit: Replying to everyone I can cause hand cannons are worth having a conversation about. : ) Probably one of the most masterful weapon mechanics ever created in any FPS

    Having fall off damage match actual range would be better than controlling gun skill with bullshit bloom and gtfo ghosts. I'm with you 100%. People who hate on hand cannons don't understand the thrill of them.

    • Idk, having hand cannons kill full speed at their max range would be over powering to autos and many other ahorter range weapons. I agree the bloom is annoying but in pvp it's needed right now. Pve no clue why on earth it's there..... Seriously what's the point? Minions of the darkness have -blam!-ing raid bosses and our weapons don't even shoot straight

      • The cone that the bullets are fired to will get smaller as you get within range.... I.e. Get closer... -_- Hand Cannons aren't Scout rifles.

Why give certain hand cannons a decent range attribute if you are going to make all Hand Cannons them fire in-accurately beyond point blank range? It's like Bungie is using the Range stat to troll Hand Cannon users. There needs to be more transparency at how range and accuracy affect hand cannons if Bungie continues to insist that Hand Cannons are working as intended. I can no longer bear standing within 2 Sparrow's range of an enemy, pacing my shots and having half the bullets in my Hawkmoon miss their intended target.

          • I feel if once they make hand cannons hit easier than now, the forums will flood with nerf posts. They'll just end up worse off then now. As someone who uses handcannons primarily, some matches all my shots land, others I can't hit anything. That's when I switch to the easy mode pulse rifles or scouts. At least when I aim down sights with those I hit my shots.

            • why ask for such thing, they just commented on hand cannons recently , the message was choose your engagement distance and don't rely on stock range on hand cannon, try hand cannons with rifled barrel or hidden hand or range finder, seem to connect bullets recently I had some awesome rolls on hand cannon and I was forced to change all of them, I would not like to have stock hand cannon perform since I wasted lots of hand cannons and lots of play time to get new rolls !!!!!!!!!!!!

                • Easy fix: significant damage drop off once it at or past max range. So you'll still hit the target but damage will be less. There is no other way that really has a good video game solution.

                  • Listen, they already explained it. You guys kept sacrificing the damn accuracy for a barrel that does more damage or fires faster. People are playing with proper barrels and loadouts and aren't noticing this magical problem at all. In fact It only seems to be bothering people trying to get maximum distance and damage out of a gun that was meant for much closer encounters. DeeJ did a perfect explanation post

                    • Isn't it ironic? Everyone begs for nerfs and bungie gladly listens to the community and castrates everything someone dies to. People finally... FINALLY... i'll repeat (simply because this uprising for a buff for once blew my mind) FINALLY start asking for something to be buffed and bungie laughs in everyone's face with a no in response. Proof that bungie doesn't believe in buffs, only nerfs.

                      • I completely agree with you their idea of realism is off point. As a shooter that comes way after modern times do they not think that with their superior technology they would make weapons of this sort extremely accurate and useful instead of an 1800 revolver inaccurate 10 yards away. They do not even understand their own argument or their community. We ask for competent fixes and they give us excuses. We need a consistent game not rng. Rng should be the loot system not our guns. Also as a pistol shooter I can put bullets on paper from a fair distance and from the same distance my hc will miss you are wrong bungie learn from your mistakes.

                        • Award for cluelessness. "lower target acquisition" What do you think target acquisition is? If a gun shoots pixel perfect at where I point it, like people seem to wish, do you need a target acquisition stat? Do you need a perk like Ikarus? Why does my LMG, when I shoot it mid-air during a jump, not hit where I point it? Why is the aim assistance so rng and just sometimes gives me the headshot? Should we get rid of aim assistance? Why should I use a scout rifle when my laser like non-bloom-eyasula shoots faster and hits harder (even with damage drop off) than any of them? Just a few thoughts to follow up the "get rid of bloom".

                            Bloom and accuracy cones have to go. If I know how to aim, my bullets should connect.

                              We don't want hand cannons to reach out drop someone at scout or pulse range. That is what the damage drop off is for. For hand cannons, it is significant, and you will be punished for trying to challenge a longer range weapon. What we want is consistency within the effective range. If I am in the effective range of my weapon, if I am doing full damage, and I have the skill to control my aim and recoil, I expect to hit my target. Bloom takes that out of my hands by adding an element of randomness to the rounds. I should not have to artificially slow down and pace my shots, I should be able to take advantage of my rate of fire. This is the issue that has hand cannon users upset. Also keep in mind PvE is a thing, and we would like to able to use that class of weapon in our encounters.

                            • Been trying this out all night to see what the story is with hand cannons. Find the range your hand cannon works at, should be easy now with custom games. Choose where your encounters are in crucible to maximise it's efficacy. Long range accuracy is for scouts. Hand cannons still wreck.

                                  You want a weapon that can kill in 3 head shots, has an in air accuracy buff, and causes ridiculous flinch to every other primary (which require more precision shots to kill and sustained fire for some) to get buffed even more? You have to be some kind of idiot to believe this is a rational request. Yall mother-blam!-ers are bad if you can't use a hand cannon efficiently with the way they're designed now...

                                  • Hand cannon users have become such whiners lately. I actually had respect for you guys but now I have none at all. Handcannons are the most dominant gun in the curcible in the hands of a good shot. Esalyuna, TLW, Hawkmoon, Finallis peril, Lord High fixer, and on and on can 3 shot with regularity and sometimes even two shot with the right perks procing. If Bungie did what you asked and nerfed rate of fire, stability, damage fall off etc you guys would then whine about that and Im 100% positive you would Hand cannons are in a good place right now. If they are not the best weapon they are for sure top 3

                                      • IMO the easy fix is to just slightly narrow the Accuracy Cone, this would make it so shots miss at longer ranges as intended but would insure all shots at optimal range hit there targets.
