Why is it that posts under Feedback and General regarding the random introduction of film grain are being censored? Why when they have thousands of comments that they are not even trending? Why is it Cozmo had a cryptic message originally acknowledging this and the community has had NO update?
Honestly...I've been upset with you before Bungie. I've quit so many times and always come back.
But if you kick me in the nuts one more time I'm just going to rip your balls off.
Acknowledge your error. Give us a fix before RoI. Then go back to your marketing and communication relations departments and fire everyone.
Signed,
Guardian who just cancelled his preorder

Update: Sony announced their new PS4 firmware update is going live tomorrow. It includes HDR. Now I don't believe XBox has any planned similar update. Do they? If both consoles are having the issue I can't imagine the firmware update will remedy it. Either way if Guardians can update here tomorrow with their experiences.

When switching between your inventory/progress/character etc, the film grain goes away and comes back very briefly. Seems intentional to me.

Edited by Helvetica_World: 9/14/2016 9:53:29 PMPeople, It's not a TV issue. The grain is ever present on all areas of the game save for the dynamic pop ups, mission screens, text overlay, warp speed screen and the Director. It is likely a broken post processing effect. Could be anything, bloom, FXAA, among others. After this patch I've noticed increased glare and diminished bloom. It's possible the bloom was toned down and the film grain which was a lot more subtle was not adjusted to compensate and now we have this BS. There could be a number of reasons but this is definitely a game issue, nothing to do with TVs. Some monitors have noise reduction, despeckle and image correction. These displays mitigate the issue for some people, so not everyone is affected by it. Gaming monitors seem to look the worst (raises hand.) In my screen, the effect looks so bad it's almost like antenna interference. I can't play for more than an hour without getting headaches. I dislike it a lot and won't ever get used to it. I do think it's being investigated, I hope it gets corrected, but I'd lie if I said it's not intentional. Bungie devs likely messed up something and want to hush it because this film grain might detract buyers.

On my tv its not game breaking but it is noticeable. This won't affect my pre-order status but it should be dealt with in a timely manner by bungie. If the keep silent on this and don't respond or acknowledge that they are working on a fix then they are truly tone deaf when it comes to their players. If they haven't been already for the past two years.....

*Deej looks at post Deej: "Oh no..." *Deej runs out of his house, gets in his car to get to the office. It breaks down. So he goes on foot. He crosses the deserts, climbs mountains, sail the deadly seas. He must get this information to Harold Ryan, the president of Bungie. Finally, Deej reaches his destination. He is exhausted. Deej is drenched in sweat and hardly able to breath. He could fall over dead any minute. Deej: "Mr. Ryan sir...OnTheRise is quitting." Ryan: "Who?" Deej: "OnTheRise, sir..." Ryan: "My god...bring me the button." *Deej breaks open a glass box on the wall labeled Use in case of emergency. He pulls out a button from the scattered remains and hands it to Ryan. Ryan pushes the button Confetti pops everywhere and a banner drops that reads No One Cares in bright bold letters. A faint "Yea" can be heard in the background. Ryan: "Money well spent." *Looks over to Deej Ryan: "Now get back to work and remember to tell me every time someone quits. I just love using this button."

Not everyone is having this issue though? I've seen the game playing on both Xbox and ps both looked perfect, but also saw it playing on a friends system where it looked awful. It's been proven that it's not a TV set-up issue so it must be an in game creation. The question is why it doesn't effect everyone? Is it a latency connection or geographical based graphical enhancement? I've read on Reddit previously that Bungie experiment with graphic modifiers to help take the strain of their servers when new releases happen. Perhaps it's somehow mixed up with that.

Ok I read through this Topic and read a lot of ignorant comments below. The situation this did not exist till Destiny update took place. This is not a persons TV or any other crap. I am on a Samsung Curve 4k tv backout to PS4 main screen looks like hot mama back in game looks like someone just shitted on my parade. Fact Bungie says on their website they are aware and our investigating. Now on Twitter I see every day since patch a fix for this and for that give us an update at least. To each their own if this guy wanted to cancel a pre-order his choice how is it affecting you? I am a little nervous not a lot of attention is going into it since I have seen nothing from them except acknowledgement of the problem. I have friends not having the issue and some I have do The issue is real and needs to be dealt with and update us. Now for the record it is beyond noticeable and after a few days you do not get used to it lol.
-
Because they are aware and said they are working on a fix. Ergo theres no point having a bazillion threads all saying the same damn thing when the meat of said thread has already been addressed.
-
Do we really need 50 dummies showing up starting their own topics just to say "hey, wth is this film grain? fix it" when Bungie has a sticky already acknowledging its existence being a bug and that they're working on it?
-
It's because it's not a bug or error. It was deliberately put into the game to cover up digital edging and rendering artifacts. And they can't get rid of it.

THE FILM GRAIN IS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THAT LEVEL YA DUNCE
-
Good afternoon OnTheRise, Just my opinion but the I believe the Film Grain is intentional. The film grain you are seeing is mostly likely due to quality of the TV, it's scan rate (refresh), TN vs ISP screen, and internal video card (descaler). Basically, the cheaper the TV - the higher the chances the film grain looks "bad" to you. Do you have lcd, led, plasma, or oled, and are you viewing at 1080P or the higher UHD? Overall, you need to adjust and correct your contrast, color, illumination (brightness), and gamma. I have LED, Plasma, and a 4K monitor. I actually like the film grain (photography 101) - but if quality of picture is to be considered the LED is on the lower tier (majority of the people who own 1080p TV is either LCD or LED).

I have not had a problem with film grain at all.
-
I have not ever had a problem with film grain.
-
This is either a fake thread, or you're not old enough to use the app/Internet on your own.
-
I'm not sure how a film grain bug has affected my gameplay causing it to be less fun. Since when did graphics make this game worth playing? Because sure it's nice but I doubt it's anyone's reason for putting 30+ days for example into it.
-
Def agree with you dude, lack of response on this issue a week before ROI launch is terrible from our "community managers" it's literally affecting my enjoyment of playing. No amount of hype will replace the fact that the day to day game has taken a visual step backwards.
-
You cancelled your pre-order because something wasn't immediately fixed? Ok... 1. First off they need to replicate the issue. I've only seen it at the end of the Alak Hul strike. 2. Once duplicated, consistently, they have to find out what happened and write a fix for it. 3. They have to submit the patch to both PSN and Xbox before it can go live. 4. Sooooo, slow down bud, eat a Snickers, you're not yourself when you're upset at Bungie.
-
I appreciate the bumps even from the trolls. I honestly can't fathom how trolls can sit here and defend a company a game that treats their community like mushrooms
-
Edited by DatSaintsBoy: 9/12/2016 7:55:15 PMThey have acknowledged it. DeeJ posted something on one of the original threads about asking the team about it. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/212588532/0/0 Link above to known issues
-
Well, can anyone remember when the game was taken offline for maintenance or a patch that DIDN'T introduce another bug/glitch/issue? I'm not exaggerating when i say it's 90% of the time they "fix" or update they actually break something else on accident. Now i have only logged on once in the last month just to see if this was real. It is. Is it happening to everyone or just ps4? I'm not sure about that.
-
Go then. We don't need you.
-
Took me 5 minutes on the phone with Sony to cancel the digital pre order even tho I've already downloaded content. Just call 800-345-7669 I wasn't the first one to cancel pre order today as mentioned by the service agent either...
-
I've seen it a lot, though never that bad.
-
You realize in the official list of issues with the patch, they said they were looking into the reports, right? What do you want, them spending time investigating the reports, or them spending all of their time answering every single thread on the topic? Do you not feel loved unless they personally come by your house to explain? WTH is wrong with this generation?
-
Okay, so I'm not going crazy - I don't have that. How are they 'censoring' anything when they've acknowledged that it's there and that they will be fixing it?
