While the standard Howlrunner is relatively unarmored, no two Howlrunners look alike, and pilots often spend money out of their salaries to upgrade their beloved ships. A common sight among outlaws, as its sheer customization allows for a myriad of specialized abilities. However, unless given an NLS or FTL drive, the Howlrunner is a purely orbital/atmospheric craft. [/b] [i]True to its name, the Howlrunners have served as the backbone of the NTR Navy for almost two decades, unmatched in its reliability and modifiability. While the standard NTR Howlrunner is relatively unarmored, no two Howlrunners look alike, and pilots often spend money out of their personal salaries to upgrade their beloved ships. The standard variant possesses twin 220mm Auto-Cannons in the front, and either twin Railguns or Missile pods on the wings. Fighters usually are only equipped with light energy shielding, but some have up-armored variants of their hull, and their form of shielding. Weapon payloads can be exchanged and replaced easily, and the versatile Howlrunner can bear most any payload. Elite NTR Squadrons are known to equip cloaking devices on their Howlrunners as well. They serve as mid to exo-atmospheric fighters, and while they can survive in space, their life support system is not rated for slipspace, and must be docked in a transport for interstellar travel.
