Everybody is complaining about the Universal Remote, saying the following things:
* You never run out of ammo for it in crucible because it's a primary.
* It has too much range!
* You can equip a Sniper Rifle in your special slot and that makes you OP!
All 3 of these things are stupid complaints, and I'll tell you why.
You say it never runs out of ammo? Well neither does literally any other shotgun provided you have the common sense to pick up special ammo every couple of lives. I mainly use my shotgun in PVP, and I rarely ever run out of ammo. If I do, I just switch to my primary real quick and go get more. It's easy af. If anything, the reserve ammo of this weapon needs increasing for PVE use.
You complain about it's range, but that's the weapon's main feature. Yes, that makes it a pain, but it is not gamebreaking. Yes, I've been killed by this weapon in the past, but not once have I ever lost a game purely because someone else was using it.
As for someone equipping a sniper to go with it, that means they have short and long ranges covered. Just use a mid range weapon (you know, like pretty much ANY decent primary) and as long as your aim is good they'll be almost completely defenseless.
Universal Remote is a good weapon, and it is a pain when someone else kills you with it, but like anything, it can be reliably countered. Stop asking for a nerf, it doesn't need one.
EDIT: Okay, so a lot of people are saying that due to lack of staggering whilst aiming under fire with snipers, they are effective at medium and close range. Even if this was a viable tactic (which it isn't), that is not the fault of the Universal Remote. Complain to Bungie about staggering on Snipers instead.
Also, some people say that anything capable of 1 shotting shouldn't be able to be used all the time. Well you know what? That exact same argument can be applied to Shoulder Charge, so if we have to put up with that (which I'm fine with) we should put up with Universal Remote as well.
Instead of complaining about getting killed by the same weapon, change your loadouts to counter it. It's far from difficult.

Looks like somebody necroed this post to give it the ole "In your face OP!"
-
Unfortunately, they just nerfed it. Some are unhappy with the nerf. Most are throwing a party, popping champagne bottles and whatnot.
-
Honestly the some of those arguments are fair. There are games where you don't get special. You'll die wen it spawns and greedy teammates pick it up. Regardless too, you literally have unlimited ammo of it essentially. You may not run out with a party crasher, but you're definitely more careful about expending bullets, unlike uni where you go in balls deep guns blazing forgetting about any sort of ammo issue. Too much range? It did have too much range. 75% nerf might be overkill, but a range tone down was needed. Uni sniper is a pretty broken combination because of how easy and rewarding a sniper is, as well as having the same qualities of a shotgun too. In a meta where mid range is probably the least effective weapon range, it's way better to have a short and long. The problem is also the map. Take pantheon for example. You either have tiny corridors or one center place where everyone rushes with shotguns, and then 3 sniper lanes. Primary weapons struggle when you can have both the effective rushing abilities in this map with uni, but also can watch any lane with a sniper

The problem isn’t Universal Remote. Never has been the problem and likely never will be the problem. Uni is just the effect of a different problem and those who complain about that gun don’t truly understand what they’re talking about. The big issue here is primary damage and TTK. The issue got worse when pulse rifles were nerfed along with the implementation of Phantom Bullets and bloom on hand cannons. This created a meta that made primaries weak and underused. At this time Mida also came back and you saw an explosion in the guns use. Was it overpowered? Nope, it was just overused because a vacuum was created by nerfing the slow FR high impact pulses that could challenge snipers (red death being the king in this scenario). Since Red Death was nerfed Mida filled in as the only reasonable mid-long range gun that could challenge snipers by providing enough stagger that made it possible to kill them before a double body shot. Think of it like this. If I turn a corner in mid-range and put shots on your face with my mida before you fire your first shot. Your TTK on a double body should not be faster than my TTK. Getting killed by a headshot was still reasonable because it was either lucky, or the sniper was very good and could re-adjust after the stagger. Credit goes to the sniper…… and the lucky headshots, while they occurred, were not frequent enough to make them an issue. Boom, Mida gets nerfed and loses the best perk for a shotgun user. The ability to challenge a sniper at range with his primary. Snipers essentially became more popular. Am I complaining about sniping? Nope. I think they should go back to wear they were before the nerf to snapshot and zoom. But at the same time give players the primaries that can fight them. So you have weak primaries that can no longer challenge snipers right? Well that’s fine, I’ll just pull out my shotgun and use map awareness to close the gap and push the sniper to either run away or fight with a primary (you see how this created a meta the leans towards special and NOT primary?). Annnnnnnnd Eureka!!! You figure it out? That’s why people complain about Uni. Your option to close the distance is no longer a good option. Not only do you have to challenge a shotgun with a shotgun but his shotgun is just better. Not only is his shotgun better but because you were pushing you end up being weaker to the pre-grenade tactic. Which makes it easier for the Uni user to take your shields (with the grenade) and clean you up before you’re in range to pop him. The other option is just to close distance but use your primary!!!! Of course that works but only so many guns are consistent. Mida sometimes but I already talked about those weaknesses. Right now Hawksaw is really the only gun that can challenge at mid-close range. But then again let assume you’re playing against someone who can anticipate you. You might end up with your primary out being rushed by………. Uni!!!! Except in this situation because you were closing the gap it’s easier (and faster) for the Uni user to get into range. Sooooooo that’s where this argument is coming from. What’s going to happen though? Bungie is going to show us a chart that focuses on how much Hawksaw, Mida, and Uni are used…… and nerf those. At which point the PVP community is going to die faster than you’ve ever seen.

Don't blame universal remote blame the fact that special is hell to get now
-
I like how the Universal Remote has remained Unchanged since year 1 (bar being nerfed due to blanket shotgun nerfs) and it was classed as one of the "worst" exotics back then Now suddenly, half of the people think its OP?!? And dont say "move it to special, BAM FIXED" as that ruins THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE WEAPON But really the problem is BUNGIE due to the fact that almost all maps are mostly short-medium range (WHERE THE UNIVERSAL REMOTE EXCELS AT) whereas big maps, that had vehicles ect (I.E THE GOOD MAPS) are left in the dust to be never heard or seen again And in the long range engagments on those maps (so you can kill the UR user before he gets you) , snipers and scout rifles excel, and that leaves Auto Rifles and handcannons in the dust Dont go complaining about how a weapon is "OP" suddenly if it has been the same since year 1
-
No gunskill? No problem! The universal remote is the weapon for you! Now you can safely avoid all gunfights by simply equipping universal remote and a sniper/ shotgun. The days of getting outgunned are behind you, guardians!
to avoid even more engagements there are several more options for you! Be sure to try out: - nothing manacles - nightstalker - stormcaller - juggernaut
Lol scrub needs his crutch
-
Nothing better than reading a PvP scrub telling me how I need to counter a broken weapon. You couldn't counter a Stevie Wonder in PvP.
-
This post is terrible. Lmao

Edited by Mystic Knight: 9/7/2016 9:02:20 AMPrimaries are useless now...it's all about the 1 hit kill. That's the reason crucible is broken. Idk what bungie was thinking. 1st they limit secondary ammo because nobody is using a primary then bring forward universal and no land beyond wtf idiots......as for ur argument on having a sniper they have no mid range game just long and short range...have u played crucible? Snipers are so broken I can't tell u the times I've died from mid range or even close range by quick scope bs. Supposedly they were all headshots too lol we all know that's bs. Hopefully they address this crap in roi
-
Shotguns are running the crucible with a handful of other weapons because most primaries are not as reliable as they were. This is causing a go-to movement to least ttk weapons. Which is why there is a lot more sniping, last word, hawksaw/grasp and shot gunning going on. Scout rifles have always been competitive. Thank god. If primary weapon archetypes that are no longer or minimally used were to be buffed again, there would be much more diversity in the crucible.
-
Funny how people with negative kd defend the weapon
-
Lol, snipers cover mid and long range.
-
Shotguns need an ammo nerf.. who misses a shotgun shot.. campared to a sniper shot? Bungie thinking they need equal ammo is retarded
-
Maybe if you had a better K/D, as is you get smoked by everything and are not likely to know whats op and whats not.
-
I just want an ability free gametype with primary weapons only. Blink shotgun? Dream on! Slide fusion? Mythoclast club only foo! Sidearms! Well, maybe those can stay...
-
Edited by Worrenz: 9/5/2016 7:57:30 PMIdk, this whole "Meta or die" thing has been pissing me off for a while now. I'll just stick to no land party crasher for 2 years I guess.. Edit: Just checked OPs stats for shiggles, I've come to the conclusion that we have a kinderguardian on trending...
-
Its prolly just the striker - juggernaut - universal wiimote meta thats pissing everyone off
-
I hate facing 3 Uni's in Trials; especially if they're all Juggernauts. It feels cheap, and on a small map can ruin a card. I find myself thinking in frustration, "How in the hell can you possibly 1 shot me from that distance?!" Yet I absolutely love wrecking with it, myself. It is so much fun and rewards highly if you're willing to push right up into your opponents face. I tried it with Juggernaut for the first time this weekend and definitely felt a little dirty afterwards but I completely understand the appeal. My love for the gun counters the salt I tend to generate when it's used against me. Dont nerf. Plez.

Fusion rifles are better anyway

Edited by SackOVengeance: 9/6/2016 2:23:47 PMThe second I see a titan or any class closing in on me with a UNI or any other shotgun I switch to my thesan(or w/e FR i'm using) and blast them away from a safe distance. The only time I get killed by a shotgun is when I wasn't careful enough in CQ engagements. 8/10 times I die is because I make mistakes. The other two tenths is because I get outplayed. Honestly, you will probably see a jugger/FB nerf before you see a universal remote nerf. I'm not one to demand nerfs, I prefer fighting against huge challenges. I am just giving my opinion on what bungie is probably going to do.
-
I started using UR frequently this past weekend on my Titan (not the juggernaut). And honestly it's a pretty effective weapon, but has to be used strategically. I've never thought it was OP, because before I played Destiny, I was a CoD guy. And in CoD it's common to run shotgun or sniper as your primary. The shotguns in Destiny are extremely weak compared to the shotguns in CoD. You could literally run around all game just hipfiring with a shotgun and have a phenomenal round. But the other CoD guns had short ttk as well (3 or 4 AR bullets, 5-7 SMG bullets, 2 scout rifle bullets, etc.). It's all about perspective or frame of reference, I suppose.
-
I've never thought UR was OP. I thought the range was a bit much but that's about it. Either way it's easy enough to counter, just like everything else. As long as people are willing to learn and adapt, the UR/Longbow or, my favorite that i've seen, UR/Party Crasher combos aren't hard to deal with.
-
It's fine. I mean it's a shotgun in your primary spot. Which means the person yeilding the thing has to take a high risk to get high rewards.

Filthy, dirty weapon for trolls
