This post is long af, so I've put a tl;dr at the bottom.
I'll be perfectly honest, I didn't earn this weapon. I was carried to the lighthouse on my Hunter by Everyshot several months ago.
When I first got the weapon, I'll be honest, I was crap in the crucible. I missed most of my shots, I lost my cool a lot, and as a result, I tended to avoid the crucible almost altogether.
As a direct result of my lack of skill in the crucible, I couldn't use this weapon properly. I missed half the clip and often got killed while reloading. I eventually just let it rot in my inventory and only ever went into the Crucible for special events.
Since then I've started two new characters, a Warlock and a Titan, and I've had to do all the crucible quests over again with those two characters.
For some reason, I noticed I was much more successful with these two characters in the Crucible than I had ever been. At first, I thought maybe I just sucked at being a hunter, and that all along I was destined to be either a self-raisin or a giant FoP (jk, I love you guys really).
Recently, I noticed I still had one Crucible quest unfinished on my Hunter. It was the Weapon Master quest, I hadn't even started it. I decided I may as well give it a go as I wanted no distractions when RoI dropped.
The first weapon I had to use was an auto rifle. Since the only two Legendaries of that type I had on me were the one from the raid and this one, I chose the one I disliked the least. I then picked the game type that I predicted would both take the least matchmaking time and be over the quickest - Rumble.
I hopped into the Crucible and, after immediately abandoning the first match because toilet emergency, I absolutely dominated with this weapon. I immediately noticed the difference between myself back then and now. My aim has significantly improved, I am much better at remaining calm under fire than I used to be, and I had a much better knowledge of the layout of all the maps.
As evidence, I present the results of my last three matches of Rumble.
This weapon, provided you have the skill to use it, is by far one of the best in the game. It will take you very far, and I only regret that I didn't realise that back when I first got it.
The last three games have also driven to another realisation. Since I didn't earn this weapon, I don't deserve the good fortune it's given to me.
Have any of you ever played Ace Attorney: Investigations 2, or at least the fan-localisation? There's a character in the game who owns a jacket that they got by graduating at the top of their class at an in-universe legal academy. After finding out that they only got the jacket due to their father's influence, they almost decided to throw the jacket away. The game's protagonist tells them that instead of throwing it away, they should resolve to become someone who is worthy to wear it.
So, that's exactly what I'm going to do. Maybe not this weekend, maybe not at the RoI launch, but someday I'll get back to the Lighthouse. I'll go there without getting carried, that way I'll have earned the right to use the weapon, and I won't have to feel guilty about it anymore.
So yeah, this weapon is one of my favorites. Bungie, do not change a thing about it.
TL;DR: Was carried to Lighthouse, got weapon, sucked with it. Practiced on other characters, got gud, weapon is now an absolute beast. Resolve to get to Lighthouse again someday without getting carried so as to earn the right to keep using it.

That is a very long post. You weren't wrong. I'm fine with my normal Doctrine. There's practically no difference between the Adept and Normal ones. But hey, you got the lighthouse grimoire. I'll never get that.
The luckiest seven you will ever meet
