Bungie explicitly said they aren't going to do this.
MMO-ish gameplay like Destiny naturally regulates this type of debacle. By adding new classes, the gamer is able to re-play through the game, old and new, in its entirety. The old toons get to start from where the previous expansion left off, and play through the content as soon as the new expansion launches.
And it's not "writers at Forbes." Eric Kain, the guy that wrote that article, is a hipper-than-thou dum bass, like %99 of all internet "video game critics." He doesn't know what he's talking about, and he's not even they're regular Destiny writer. Thankfully, Bungie doesn't spend millions of dollars developing games based on his opinion.
