They also said they respected the time put into weapons and armor and didn't want to make players feel like their gear was obsolete.

This would be a little bigger. I honestly believe they didn't bring forth year 1 stuff for the legacy consoles

No. They could easily make a material like esthetic light and let people bring their Y1 weapons forward. I think they choose not to because I think they care more about players grinding continuously than do about the player experience. Take the Gjallarhorn for example. Are they bringing it back? Yes. But everyone knows deep down it won't be what it was. They're bringing it back as a selling point nothing more. Was it game breaking? No. It made the grind bearable. Did it get people kicked from Raids? Yes. But if BungieVision cared about the player experience they could have overwritten Xur's random sell and sold it anytime. They proved they could do this when they had him stay longer because of PSN being down holiday 2014.

Again. Character over weapons and armour. What's worse

Weapons and armor. You can casually hit 40 in a week, and finish all 3 subclasses in 3 weeks. So that's maybe 9 weeks total. Anyone who's been around since day 1 knows it can take a hell of a lot longer to get that weapon or armor piece that's been avoiding you.

Good point.
