Hey Bungie, don't even think about resetting and making us start new Guardians in Destiny 2
The writers at Forbes are idiots to suggest it.
If you're going to make us start over then you need to drop the ranking up and progression completely and turn this into a Halo type experience.
If we're going to grind, progress and build our guardians over multiple paid expansions then you need to let us continue with our Guardians we're investing all this time into.
Honestly the fact that these writers at Forbes are suggesting a reset is complete crap. If you want a fresh start you can delete and make a new Guardian any time you want. Don't force that bs on others who are invested in their Guardians.

11 RepliesIts destiny 2. It can be an rts if they wish. I cant believe the community is allowing dlc to invalidate entire consoles. I get going strictly current gen for any game debuting this year or next or last, but not a game that is still currently sold as a last gen title. I know of no other titles that have ever had dlc make entire consoles obsolete.

Destiny 2 will be played from the other side. You can be Fallen, Vex or Cabal, and you hunt down the bad guardians, protecting the City, plus the other factions.

My guess is that we'll be able to bring our Guardian forward to D2 so subclass perks and all that will come with them but gear, weapons and such will be gone. It's either going to be something along those lines or they'll make D2 work like an add-on and in the first 5 minutes you'll find white and green gear that is stronger than your King's Fall or ToO gear. I don't really know what the best solution is though.

I'm invested in my guardians too. But I don't know, keep everything? A fresh start is actually fine by me. I did it in Y1. I think I could suck it up. Maybe find a way to keep everything, but not in a way that gives us a head start. Like a account/class import from D1 to D2. Like they do with Mass Effect.

I don't care Destiny was the story of one Guardian. Destiny 2 can be a brand new story.

6 RepliesDisagree, I want to start at 0 again, new gear, and new skills. Keep the grimoire, keep the look of the character but that's it. Opening scene have the tower destroyed, lose all the gear because of it and you "just" survive weakening you back to level 0.

Most games like destiny always make you restart in sequels. Don't get your hopes up.

As long as they carry over emblems and shaders I don't mind starting characters again.

Do we keep all the weapons, etc in CoD, too? Or maybe all the cars in NFS? Maybe we'll get all new characters in Destiny 2 with other abilities? Maybe they'll look different? So many reasons to RESET everything. Maybe better give us an emblem, a special weapon or something like that? -

For those of us that still have things like our first Kvostov, fate bringer and queen's wrath loot in our vaults LET US KEEP OUR STUFF and continue on!

Absolutely agree. Been playing since beta and I hated deleting my beta Guardian. I signed for a 10 year journey with One Guardian. Please don't change.

Edited by AreYouKidden: 9/2/2016 1:36:57 PMAll I ever hear on these forums is that nothing is balanced, and Destiny has ruined everything in trying to balance, wiping the slate clean gives the a fresh start, and is a lot easier than trying to deal with bringing all the items forward, unless they make all the items useless. They'll also have new story lines, with new level requirements, and having characters come in with already achieved levels, will make it more difficult to create the game they want to create. I for one would rather not see them handcuffed by trying to bring in old content for a new game, one in which they may not even go with the 3 classes they have now, who knows? Edit: I've seen comments on shaders, emblems, and ships - cosmetics.. I could get behind this, but it does not make or break the game if they do not.

Sols, usually I would agree completely with you, but I'm on the fence on this one, for one reason. You have to question just what progress you are saving. Is it the aesthetics of your character and their gear, or their class abilities, or the history of what your guardian has accomplished. In any case, whatever hold over from Destiny 1 there is, leaves gaping holes in the potential to create something completely different and ultimately better than what was done in Destiny 1 It is hard to imagine for most, (I can tell because it seems like people are content within the confines of the existing game with only a few tweaks), but this game could do and be so much more than it is now, and maybe keeping too much from the original will hurt that growth.

I want to keep my gaurdians, it would break the narrative if we had to start new characters. full evolution of my guardians would be better imo, evolving current subclasses I think would be the way forward.

I would hope that Destiny 2 would be so new and different that it wouldnt make sense to import old characters. They have a chance to completely wipe the slate clean and start over with a fresh story, new classes, skills, gear, etc. For example why even stick to our current solar system? What if people had escaped our solar system and found something new and more interesting than the traveler and a new place to colonize that is now being threatened by something other than the usual taken, fallen, etc. You could have cameos from the original. For example maybe someone in the new story knew Cade prior to the collapse or maybe some of our favorite weapons were recreated with some new twists for this new environment. Basically put, if Destiny 2 is so unimaginative that it makes sense to carry over my current stuff then I may need to keep looking for a more innovative game.
