Fusions were a favorite for me when Vanilla was around and I had the old 77 Wizard with Armor Piercing Rounds which actually DID over-penetrate targets and kill things behind your primary target. That Wizard wrecked praetorians.
I quit using them when the fusion rifle nerfs hit. I know they buffed them, but they're not plug and play weapons like they used to be. There is now a pretty big learning curve with them and you need to spend time with just a single FR of your choosing so you get a feel for it. I don't really want to invest that kind of time in the weapon, especially since I've always preferred sniping, ever since I got my Patience/Time back in Y1.
Bottom line: I see FR's as an extremely powerful weapon in the right hands, similar to a HC. However, the learning curve is so big that most people don't want to invest the time or effort to practice using one in order to really maximize their potential.

Man, I was actually forced into using them cause I wasn't proficient with a sniper or shotty. Now I love the freaking things! They wreck shotgunners. Still not sure about trials use though.

Some people are just good with them, and many props to those who are! I for one, have struggled using them well enough in PVP to be a threat with them, so I really don't use them anymore.

Reading this made me reminisce about my old light/beware. Miss that gun.

One of my fireteam mates swore by Light/Beware. Two great fusion rifles on opposite spectrums. 77 Wizard had raw firepower, but a slow charge time, whereas Light/Beware charged much faster, and had marginally less damage. Each of us swore by our own fusion rifles back then. But one thing is certain - they were MUCH more user friendly back then, making them much more fun to use IMO. I loved watching my 77 Wizard destroy the major minotaur in front of me and watching the other adds (goblins, herpes, hobgoblins) all die as the streams overpenetrated. And my super bar would fill up so fast!
