Two months ago, the world’s wise men were warning that if UK voters decided to “Brexit” from the European Union, they’d rain down economic crisis. Guess what? Today, Britain is fine — and has even seen a boost from its “Leave” vote. The International Monetary Fund, central-bank chiefs, academic economists — you know, the people who study the economy for a living — said Brexit would be a disaster.
Edited by Obi Wan Cannoli: 9/1/2016 3:57:27 PMIt's probably because they're not out of the EU yet. Also lmao realclearpolitics, the thinly veiled conservative propaganda machine.

You would think this user would be smart enough to scrap the post but it seems just like if they were dumb enough to post this they are dumb enough to still believe it and leave it up after no matter what people say. Op is perfect example of why US of A is going down the drain

You know all that aside, we haven't left the E.U, and we still may not leave. The referendum was held to get public opinion, the government still needs to invoke article 50 of the Lisbon treaty, which it hasn't yet. So technically it's staying in the E.U has boosted our economy.

nice source

Let's wait until they're actually out of the EU before we start saying who's actually right and wrong.

What the hell is a UK?

Edited by Psyntifik: 8/30/2016 3:09:00 PMGreat! But I still wont have my workers rights, my pension will go to shit and now there's no one stopping George Osborne from stealing all my money. Woop-de-doo!

UK haven't officially left yet.

Nothing can fix their dental care though.

It's fine for now, only time will tell if it truly hurt them or helped them

Dismantle UK economy, yes?
-
Well 1) we're not out yet so we still have access to the single market 2) the pound? Hello? Stuff is now more expensive 3) a lot of people on both sides of the argument were exaggerating yes
-
The UK isn't even out yet, and it's likely we haven't even begun to see the proper effects of leaving. Part of my job involves buying from abroad and let me tell you - things have gotten a whole lot more expensive lately behind the scenes. I imagine it's only a matter of time before these increases are passed on to consumers.
-
The U.K. Isn't out of the EU yet. They still have like two years of negotiating.
-
Anyone know what the effects of Brexit are gonna be for me? Considering I'm in the US.

Edited by Flee: 8/30/2016 10:08:56 AMThat is a pretty poor article. The UK hasn't even left the EU yet and all of the catastrophic predictions were based on Cameron's promise that they would trigger article 50 the day after the referendum. The incredibly hot summer, excellent weather and low pound is what helped the economy, while the general consensus appears to be that we'll be seeing the damage in the near future. Inflation is up, the Bank of England has been forced to adopt a massive stimulus package and drastically cut interest rates to the lowest they have been in 300 years in order to help the economy, permanent job openings are falling, import and manufacturing prices are up, housing is down and both consumer and business confidence are estimated to be decreasing. If anything, the only thing this article illustrates is that the referendum (just the vote, not the actual Brexit) hasn't had terrible consequences for the short term economy. It tells us nothing about the actual Brexit, which is still ages away, or the medium term economic damage.

Edited by ReignofSpartain: 8/30/2016 5:30:19 AMI have question why are you posting page that at top clearly states OPINION. Yes now that we have that clear. The funny thing about brexiters looking for "cultural protection" didnt win jack if they are to trade they have to accept the immigration part. Immigration changed policy 0% all brexit will do is make them lose its advantaged place but sure throw opinion pieces in to justify

Does anyone remember when everyone was like "If Brexit happens the world is DOOMED!" Ironic isn't it?
