Your router is your network gateway, and will have a static IP already on the LAN side. Based on what you're telling us it's probably 192.168.0.1 or something similar, and DHCP is set up to hand out 192.168.0.2 - 244 (or something similar). He's talking about assigning a static ip to your console as well. If what you're telling us is correct, you could reserve .245 for your console, or actually anything that's excluded from DHCP, which would be anything from .245 - .254.
Not that you'll ever need to lease 243 addresses, but it's always best practice not to manually assign an ip address to a system that could potentially also be assigned by DHCP.

Thanks I think I get it now. Do u think I need to do anything on the main router that my isp provided? ( this is the one that is connected to the fibre cable from the street) my netgear router doesn't have the socket for the fibre cable or I would just have used it directly and thrown the isp one away lol
