The Road To Dawn
Book One: Morning Crimson
Chapter Four: Those Who Hold The Light
After three years of serving the traveler, I wanted to fight the darkness on my own agenda. I couldn’t imagine the thing I found on the other side of Mars.
I pushed forward the joystick that controlled my ship, flying overtop of Mars towards the great beyond. I kept going for a while, not going as fast I could in fear of finding the awoken. My ship was sluggish anyways, most of the golden age tech had been destroyed during the collapse. That was, conveniently, right before I became a guardian.
“Phantom, the ship is picking up something.” A ship pulled out of hyperdrive right next to my ship.
“It’s another guardian. What are they doing out here?” I said. My ship’s comms bursted to life.
“Hey, this is Ivan speaking. What are you doing out so far.” Ivan, I hadn’t heard that name much before. He’s been a guardian for two years, but I didn’t think he would end up doing something like this.
“Um...my engine is starting to overheat. Could you give me some help with it?” I said, diverting his suspicion of me being out here to having engine troubles.
“Ok, I’ll transmat on your ship with my ghost.” After saying that, he began to appear in the ship until he stood amongst me. The titan had a gray color scheme, opposed to my blue and black. Even had to make my own cloak to match it. “Let me check your console, might be able to fix it from there.”
He walked to the console, pulling out his ghost to scan my console. The ghost said nothing, it had nothing to share.
“Oh, it isn’t overheating huh? Ghost I think we have an adventurer on our hands.” The smugness in his voice resonated across the cockpit walls. “The nearest planet is Mars right? Why don’t we take him there.”
“Of course we will, Ivan.” The ghost said. He started to interact with the console again.
“What are you doing with my ship!” I yelled, but it was too late. Ivan turned and walked towards me.
“Goodbye, Adventurer.” I backed up, but he grabbed me and threw me into the wall head first. My vision turned black, and all I could feel was falling.
Oh, how the dark beckons those who hold the light.

The writing isn't very inspired, it's dry and to the point. As if you are not sure you should write more. Flesh it out dear
