Let's look at it from this perspective. You and I show up to the same restaurant at the same time. We both order the same meal at the same time. I get mine within 10 minutes, have my meal, eat, and then leave. Your meal finally arrives by the time I'm leaving and your meal is cold. We both are required to pay the same exact price for the same meal without equal service. You would be upset wouldn't you? We're both paying for the same thing, the exact same amount, but one of us is getting a lot more than the other/better service than the other. Think of it in that perspective for a bit.

  • The flaw with your metaphor is that we're not going to the same restaurant. A more accurate metaphor: There are 2 restaurants side by side. Each serves Cod from the nearby fisherman's market in their Fish-n-chips. One restaurant's owner is very good friends with the owner of the fisherman's market, and therefore is able to acquire larger quantities for the same price and has decided to therefore increase the portions of their dish. They're also better cooks, so they can plate and serve their customers faster. I decided to go to the restaurant with better portions and wait time since I wanted a better deal. You decided to go to the restaurant with smaller portions and a larger wait time for the same product since that's where all your friends wanted to go. And then, after finding out I was fed faster and better for the same price, you marched down to the fisherman's market and complained instead of examining your choices of restaurant.
