Is it still possible to purchase barrels of mead? The feasts typically portrayed in medieval movies, tv shows, and video games, whether fantasy or historical fiction, look like a hell of a lot of fun. I feel like Renaissance fairs ruin the experience of a medieval feast with their family friendly atmosphere, so the obvious remedy is to plan a massive medieval themed party. Would it be possible, not to mention fairly cheap, to purchase a large quantity of mead today for such an event?

Edited by The Cellar Door: 8/17/2016 3:09:46 PMThere's a renaissance fair me and my friends always go to and get plastered off of mead. Funny shit man, and they have some of the best drunk food too. Also, just some advice if you ever go to one, hay bales are the optimal location to puke. Really soaks up the stuff nicely. I'm sure you could buy a barrel at one of those (if I didn't already slurp it down amiright). If not, then I would look around for breweries that make it. As for the family friendly thing, it just takes a couple glasses to forget about it.
