Offtopic should be accessible for posting even if you have a b.net account that has never played Destiny. It would make this subforum a more interesting and diverse place. I think this should apply to #gaming as well. Destiny related subforums should be where a linked Destiny account is required for posting. What do you think? Like if you agree. Maybe Bungo will notice.

Edit: It seems like a strong majority agrees with me. LETS KEEP THIS ROLLING! I started a thread/pole in #feedback. If you agree please like. Let's send Bungie a message...

Edited by OurWildebeest: 8/18/2016 3:10:20 PMYou own a company that sells one product currently. You have sold other products in the past, but now you focus on one. You buy servers, hire people to operate them, pay for bandwidth and electricity for those servers or maybe you pay another company for server space in a data center. What are you going to use those servers for? In other words, what are you going to spend money on? Option A: Building a community to encourage people to buy your product, or continue buying updates to your product. Option B: Building a community hostile to your product, that insults the product and people who use it, that is filled with negative and divisive, often offensive, arguments about things that have nothing to do with your product. Bungie probably allows offtopic to exist because they think nobody looks here, and if they shut it down, the negativity here would show up on the Destiny board and they would need to moderate more heavily. I doubt that any manager at Bungie likes or cares about offtopic otherwise.
-
As much as I wish for this to happen, it probably won't. Bungie hates us here with a passion and is subtly trying to get rid of us, even those of us who have been here for a few years.
-
I tried to make an account that had no destiny attached to it to use for offtopic and it told me I could only post if I had destiny attached to it.
-
Offtopic, Gaming, Community and every other tag that isn't an official subforum needs to be accessible to non-destiny accounts. The only reason they made such an access policy in the first place was to "prevent alternate accounts from being made." Look how that turned out lmao. They said only 1% of active users were going to be unable to use the site when they introduced it, but they modified the stats for their own benefit like the Smash 4 ballot.

Sometimes, I don't like the words you preach.

This will be the only topic you and me will ever agree on, Krishna.

I think this should be without mods. I get that Bungie wants to appeal to the majority so they try to keep the place clean. But the majority doesn't get butt hurt that bad and actually wishes there were no mods. The worst that would happen is porn (grow up if you can't handle it), spam, and some very dark jokes. That's not bad and it's better than being banned for every time someone gets a little butthurt. Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets taken down.

o god the alts

Finally something sane leaving your mouth.. Or fingertips.. Whatever

Is offtopic flat?

Edited by Toffoo: 8/17/2016 11:13:04 PMI see you don't know that there are other popular forums out there, like Reddit or 4Chan.

IKR now I have to get my alts to play destiny
feels bad man
-
No, while it may have got rid of old users it's main purpose to purge alts was majorly successful.

Edited by Oath 01: 8/17/2016 8:50:14 PMNevermind, I'm mistaken
-
I started going on offtopic a little while after destiny came out so I'm fairly new but I agree you shouldn't have to have played destiny to go on offtopic, gaming, or feedback
-
Never going to happen
-
That's completely illogical. Honestly it would be a wise decision for Bungie to scrap #Offtopic. Allowing a community to exist in your company's forums that negatively affects your product is extremely idiotic.
-
Requiring a connected account cut back on alt use. Generally, that's been a good thing imo.

For once, we may agree.
