So today I'd like to inform you on something you might have never noticed before.
Three possible secret mega-weapons of unknown origin. One of these three might tie with a piece of exotic armor. Let's begin.
"what are these weapons and where do I find them!" I hear you yelling. They are:
The anomaly - An odd site that generates intense electromagnetic fluctuations. Located on the moon and is constantly chased after by the hive.
Station A-113 - a mysterious station out in the reef that houses an "eye" and "keyholes". Discovered by a dead orbit crew that got shot down by awoken patrols.
the lighthouse - the infamous site you go to when you go flawless. Located on Mercury and believed to be a camp of the cultists of Osiris.
What's so special about these sites? They do damage.
With prolonged exposure to the anomaly, some guardians had to be hospitalized for insomnia (which is habitual sleeplessness; inability to sleep.)
Something in station A-113 can cause insanity. Upon inspecting the station, the dead orbit team went mad.
When a new monarchy team went to inspect the lighthouse, (which they were invited to oddly enough), they immediately felt like they were being watched. Moments into the search:
My Awoken teammate felt an ongoing sense of deja vu: her actions were precessed by an infinite echo, an anticipation of all her choices. She became volatile and erratic. She insisted that we were surrounded.
The site seemed to be causing paranoia.
So what? Why would they be connected?
These seem unique in terms of weapons as they are basically attacking the target's sanity. It's also odd because you'd think if these belonged to a enemy we knew they'd be using it more often on us. You'd also think that the enemies we know wouldn't let such powerful weapons just slip away.
My best conclusion is that these are a few of the "relics of darkness" that were "left behind".
Now about how one ties to an exotic we have.
The Anomaly and the impossible machines:
"The dead come for these, but the dead should not have them." —Crumpled note pinned in the clasp
I believe "the dead" is referring to the hive as hive are often referred to as dead and are involved in necromancy. At least one machine could be the anomaly as these gauntlets are arc related and the anomaly is an intense electromagnetic storm.
Now we are left with a few questions.
How many "machines" are there? Are they the other weapons I mentioned up top? Are more anomalies? Where are they?
Questions, for another day. Until then, keep asking questions.
Edit: feel the need to elaborate on the impossible machines. Yes I know we are technically dead but we are rarely referred to as "dead". We are called thieves, guardians, light, but rarely dead. The hive are more commonly referred to as "dead".
back to master thread:

The impossible machines possibly refer to us to be honest. Think about it.
