First off I want to say that the goal for acquiring full gear sets is not very high. I am just shooting for a damage decrease or something for the gear now cause I felt there is no real need to have all the gear unless there was an incentive. The April update is allowing people to eventually reach max level by playing and grinding exotics for their next boost to a piece of armor or weapon. There needs to be an incentive to gather all gear sets or there is no real need to. A shader when you have all pieces is cool but what does that really do for me? Doesn't help kill or not be killed by the enemies. Whats the benefit to getting a whole new raid set when people will more than likely infuse it to something else to power their old gear up?
Example:
All Kingsfall Raid gear (5% damage decrease from Taken) or (5% damage increase to Taken)
All Vault of Glass gear (5% damage decrease from Vex) or (5% damage increase to Vex)
All Crota's End gear (5% damage decrease from Hive) or (5% damage increase to Hive)
All Vanguard/Crucible/Faction gear (5% extra rep gains) This will stack for faction exotics rep boost.
Other Ideas:
All Raid gear: Faster reloading and carry more ammo for all weapons
This would become a trade off from variety but make the goal of striving for gear sets that much more desirable.

This is terrible. All through year one, everyone had to wear the raid gear to be max level. Now we actually have great diversity, and you want to take that away?!
-
Agreed. Something would be nice. Other than grinding to get them, there is no incentive to keep/use them. I delete most of the faction stuff as most of it looks like crap.

i like the idea of full faction gear getting a rep bonus on said faction....ive got a full set of FWC/NM/DO spekter gear(though im short DO boots)grinded my ass off getting them...equipping exotic arm band gives very small bonus to rep bonus....very,very small
-
Excellent idea.

I think that's what they are kinda doing with the artifacts... giving out passive buffs like that in RoI

The Division

Sooooo... that mean you want exotics armor to be removed from the game. Because no one will use gear sets if you have more exotics with more useful bonuses. And I don't want to see people wearing only a few sets. And what about IB, ToO, Sublime engram and Tresure box sets? they will be useless? No way. I don't like that idea.

This post makes so much sense and needs to be a thing. The only draw back would be a "forever 29" situation where RNG won't drop a certain piece of gear needed to complete a set.

Edited by kurona7: 8/9/2016 4:24:58 PMI mean that would be cool, but you know each raid gear already has a nice little special effect from one of the perks so adding all gear is a few perks added together. I think that is fine or just making each perk a bit more universal to do more outside of the raid instead of focusing on raid mechanics. I do like the look on having full raid armor though. Love my Titan's vault of Glass Armor full set.

Edited by MEGANAUTe: 8/9/2016 5:42:42 PMI don't think equipping full sets should add bonuses (I.e division).... Then you always have to wear that full set and look like everyone else. I think once you do acquire a full set you unlock an ability to equip. I think that would work. It would be another customizable slot that even includes an animation. Like the old blue fire head do completing nightfall. This would be amazing. Red eyes that increase range for having collected all siva raid gear. Taken fog that increase agility for having collected all kings fall raid gear. Yee.

Edited by What I Look Like: 8/9/2016 3:46:25 PMI've got a decent idea, not entirely formed to be honest. I agree with the set bonuses, it would get this game closer to complexity and actual builds. They wouldn't be game changing though. So here's what I had in mind.. bonuses are determined by 2 things; subclass and faction on said armor. Ideas so far - Gunslinger: DO gives faster super charge (Aptly called "The need for Expeditionary protection", stackable with perk for faster super as well), NM gives gives increased weapon stability (hand of justice), FWC gives faster equipment charge (bodice of war) Blade Dancer: DO gives more invis time (stacks with increased invis time perk, called Hidden in plain sight), NM set gives a free Quickdraw node (called Crusade of the Pagan), FWC allows you to pick an extra equipment charge (Charged Up) Nightstalker: DO allows you to be permanently invis to the eyes of any enemy with a red bar (called the Art of Stealth), NM unlocks bloodbound for free (to be paired with Black hole for amazing destruction at an extended distance, called Fletch of Unseemly Order), and FWC allows you to change the elements of NS to either element of the other subclasses while retaining the perk tree of a NS (called He/She Who Stalks the End). So I started simple with equipment recharge and basics like that, and worked my way up to things that aren't in the game at all. How does anyone at all view these examples? Sound good? Too OP, not enough of a difference?

For somebody who wears the full kallipolis Spectre set I agree :) gimme a rep boost or something bungo :(
-
I don't mind bonuses for getting a full set. However like everyone else, including bungie, it limits variety and ruins any sense of personal style. So like bungie has already done, how about nodes or perks. Something to that effect that is unlocked after collecting sets.
-
Nope they'd just nerf them to uselessness.
-
I like the idea of bonuses for full armor sets. It could be something as simple as creating an elemental shield layer for the player. Each armour set would give you one of two options. Ex: VOG set would offer either solar or arc, CE set would offer solar or void, Shaxx set would offer Kenetic or Solar,... ect ect. The elements could change but you get the idea. Always giving players an option so we could be slightly different. Just make the bonus null and void in standard crucible matches for fairness. The trick would be keeping the shield layer from being too string I guess.

If done right it could be a neat addition. My only issue is cosmetics, so another reason for a cosmetic slot or transmog. I like it
-
For the sake of saving variety, which we now have some semblance of it in the game; Set bonuses should only be implemented if we get vanity/cosmetic/transmog system. This way set bonus can be obtained, but still allow us to customize our guardians. An example off the top of my head, is if anyone has played SWTOR. In the beginning all the end game gear looked the same and thus, dull and boring. Gear in that game had components. What they did to fix it, was be able to attach the "set bonus" perk to the component, and then allow players to remove it from the "end game gear" and add it to the custom gear.

Rep gains wouldnt be bad.
-
Edited by Tychaia Prosopo: 8/9/2016 2:05:54 PMIf that happened a lot of guardians would look the exact same
-
No, because then I feel compelled to use that gear. A better solution would be that each piece of gear offers something different, but the work well together. But that's basically the principle of gear now anyway.
-
One word: Division
-
Yeah it would be nice
-
This feels like another thing bungie purposefully didn't implement into the original release of destiny just to save it for dlc or expansion marketing
-
I used to want this to happen like Diablo but now I'm not sure anymore. It might negate the use of exotics. I would also want Bungie to incorporate transmog as well so that if I am running a raid the other 5 characters don't look exactly the same as I do for the raid buffs etc.

Nahhh
