First off I want to say that the goal for acquiring full gear sets is not very high. I am just shooting for a damage decrease or something for the gear now cause I felt there is no real need to have all the gear unless there was an incentive. The April update is allowing people to eventually reach max level by playing and grinding exotics for their next boost to a piece of armor or weapon. There needs to be an incentive to gather all gear sets or there is no real need to. A shader when you have all pieces is cool but what does that really do for me? Doesn't help kill or not be killed by the enemies. Whats the benefit to getting a whole new raid set when people will more than likely infuse it to something else to power their old gear up?
Example:
All Kingsfall Raid gear (5% damage decrease from Taken) or (5% damage increase to Taken)
All Vault of Glass gear (5% damage decrease from Vex) or (5% damage increase to Vex)
All Crota's End gear (5% damage decrease from Hive) or (5% damage increase to Hive)
All Vanguard/Crucible/Faction gear (5% extra rep gains) This will stack for faction exotics rep boost.
Other Ideas:
All Raid gear: Faster reloading and carry more ammo for all weapons
This would become a trade off from variety but make the goal of striving for gear sets that much more desirable.

Because why not piss on gear diversity even more.

Edited by The Fighting Lion: 8/12/2016 10:16:35 PMKtan Dantaktee and a bunch of others had a very valid point below. Using set bonuses in the traditional sense that you're talking about wouldn't be great. It would further dismantle variation and style, which this game sorely needs. Not to mention, 99% of raid gear looks like trash and min-maxers would be forced to wear an entire ugly set of gear for whatever bonus. This can be fixed one of two ways, the latter being much more complex. 1. Just implement a wardrobe system. For each armor slot in your inv you have a cosmetic slot. Armor slot is whatever piece you're actually wearing, wardrobe slot what everyone sees. 2. Find a way to tether set bonuses to gear using a socket system or something like. If you wanted set bonuses tied to the hive then run certain hive related activities to gain a mark, gem, mote, device etc. to augment a given piece of armor. Collect however many of each type, boom, non gear restricted set bonuses.

No Destiny is not an MMO Destiny is not an RPG Destiny is a FPS Until we see things such as barber shop pets and even guardians quarters then no Not sorry.
-
PSA: Gear set bonuses have been in existence before the Division, mostly in MMOs such as WoW or SWTOR. That is all.
-
Go play the devision!
-
Nah that is what I hate about the division let's not add that to,destiny
-
What are we playing the division now
-
hell no it would just force people to look the exact same not cool
-
No. It wouldn't allow me to look how I want to look. It brings back the days when the only thing max light people had were raid gear
-
I wish it was like Diablo where there's multiple gear sets that have perks for wearing 2, 3, or all of the pieces. Makes for way more variety in builds. This game just isn't that deep and I wish it had a few more mmo aspects. I think it would really put it over the top.
-
I agree
-
I think these might be a good idea. But they should be more raid specific like for kings fall. This has to be done after fusion rifles get nerfed. :)
-
Yeah just like monster hunter
-
The set bonuses would have to be pretty significant considering you would have to give up your exotic slot to wear a full set. For instance, the bonus would have to be pretty damned good to get me to use a legendary helmet over Saint 14 on my Titan. The problem is then you get into the issue of whether set bonuses are OP because they trump the bonuses from using exotics. It would certainly add an element of diversity to the game, but I'm not certain it will work out well.
-
Maybe make the full faction armor sets give increased rep
-
I disagree everyone would lol the exact same like when the taken King released everyone looked the same with all raid gear and there wasn't a variety no offence it's a good idea just not for this game
-
I think if they made it related to factions then Yea it could be cool like dead orbit 5% intellect boost fwc 5% discipline nm 5% strength or maybe nm could increase burn effects while dead orbit increases stealth and fwc chaining lightning
-
If anything it should give us flaming heads, or auras, or some cool looking shite.
-
5% bonus to int/disp/str for given armor set. I think that might be worth giving up an exotic. Or during the raid you automatically get a tier 15 build.
-
While I'm fine with a full set providing PvE buffs, I'm not ok with any buff that would impact PvP. There's already enough to worry about with getting the right tier and perks, let's not add another headache.
-
would be a nice lil bonus for sure.
-
Edited by DillanTD: 8/9/2016 8:01:30 PMOr we could get cool emotes
-
Edited by Leone: 8/9/2016 7:46:16 PMFull pariah gear: increases readying and aiming speed.
-
What should Trials be? Increase on all ammo pickups? Or something along the lines of that?
-
Personally I prefer perks on the gear as they are as opposed to set bonuses. For me it gives a greater sense of variety. Between exotics, and certain legendary pieces like a hood of malok or the Maulers, you would be deterred from wearing them in order to have the set bonuses. Just how I feel.

This is terrible. All through year one, everyone had to wear the raid gear to be max level. Now we actually have great diversity, and you want to take that away?!
