(This list does not include weapons or perks or other technical terms)
NF - Nighfall, originally an alteration of your run of the mill strike, it was stacked with modifiers including one that put you back into orbit upon a Fireteam wipe, all in the hope to receive some of the best rewards in the game, including an xp boost. Since year 2, it's just been a glorified heroic strike with mediocre rewards and isn't considered worth anyone's time.
VoG - Vault of Glass, raid featured in Vanilla Destiny
IB - Iron Banner, PVP event. Originally exclusive to Control. Now encompasses Clash and occasionally Rift.
TDB - The Dark Below, Destiny's first expansion. Dark times indeed.
CE - Crota's End, TDB's raid, notorious for being able to be soloed.
HoW - House of Wolves, Destiny's 2nd expansion. Introduced gear ascension.
PoE - Prison of Elders, Destiny's first Arena, introduced in HoW, it became tedious very quickly. Dismantle mines, yeesss?
ToO - Trials of Osiris, long awaited PVP event that came along in HoW along with the introduction of Elimination. Do you have what it takes to get to the Lighthouse?
MoT - Moments of Triumph, yearly activity held to see if you as a player managed to "git gud" and stay good.
TTK - The Taken King, Destiny's first DLC that seemed like a DLC.
CoO - Court of Oryx, a PVE activity that serves as a spiritual successor to PoE. Engrams galore.
KF - King's Fall, TTK's raid. Infamous for being long, tedious, and giving you everything but what you needed to hit max light. Gotta have those moldering shards.
FotL - Festival of the Lost, Halloween event created solely to take our money. Unless you like collecting candy. What are you, 14? Wait...
SRL - Sparrow Racing League, also created to take our money, this event was actually fun, they removed it for seemingly no reason. Some argue racing doesn't belong in a shooter. But apparently dancing does.
CD - Crimson Doubles, Bungie's third attempt to satisfy our hunger in the content drop. This Valentines Day event was actually created by High Moon Studios and not Bungie.
CotE - Challenge of the Elders, a large portion of the community decided to ignore the "the" and shorten it to the easier CoE, CotE/CoE serves as an upgraded and revamped PoE added during the April update.
RoI - Rise of Iron, Destiny's much awaited 2nd full-scale DLC. The fact that I and lower case L's look alike make this acronym feel awkward.
AF - Archon's Forge, Destiny 2nd Arena, being introduced in RoI, much is unknown about it, but it's lit.
WotM - Wrath of the Machine, RoI's Raid, like most RoI content, not much is known about it other than the fact the raid gear looks a bit strange.

What about AMA?
-
TLW: The Last Word - weapon of try hards and streamers that carry noobs to the lighthouse RTV: Randal The Vandal - notorious vandal of the Forgotten Shore. Known for being harder to kill than Oryx XTT: Xylar The Timeless - Secret VoG boss that could only be summoned by defeating Atheon with smoke grenades prior to the Taken King. And could only be damaged with hunter backstabs from the front. He was unkillable and thus became the truest form of Destiny Legend IMGWFR: "If My Guy Would F***ing Run" - Shout of all guardians when the sprint lock engages at the worst moment GFW: "GET F***ING WRECKED": Screamed at your enemy who has be constantly killing you after you finally kill him MMM: Motherf***ing MIDA Multitool - The gun of the once and true meta and the ultimate sniper counter JTMM: Just Take My Money - Cry of all those who have hitched themselves to the HYPE TRAIN Rise of Iron is in fact "lit" and the hype is certainly "real"

TTK can also refer to Time To Kill, a judgment of a weapon's lethality.
-
Ktm- "Kill them back!", one of Variks's famous quotes from PoE. Unfortunately that ended during the first confrontation with Malok, Variks wanted him to face Judgement in Prison for reasons unknown. Probably because he didn't dismantle mines. The ghost however took up the opportunity to make an unexpected but funny Variks impression.
-
SC - strange coins, shoulder charge, storm caller
-
"Dismantle mines, yesssssssss?" Variks no, no, NOOOOOO!!!
-
Edited by RingersCheckmate: 8/6/2016 9:55:02 PMThen there's the one that can mean 18 different things, SC. Usually strange coins, but there's a lit like that. Storm caller for an example.

Edited by juharr: 8/5/2016 1:02:11 PMAs others have mentioned there is no "the" in "Challenge of Elders". Also you missed 3oC "3 of Coins", a fairly common abbreviation. Edit: So apparently Bungie is even a little mixed up on whether there is a "the". On the Recruitment page it's "Challenge of Elders" but on the activity page it's "Challenge of the Elders". Things like this cause wars.
-
You don't abbreviate the word "the."
-
GGS is the most important one, everyone uses it...
-
ToM - Touch of Malice SGA - Super Good Advice TL - Thunderlord Tlw - The last word FC - First Curse
-
Now that I didn't know. Crimson Doubles, by High Moon Studios.
-
Not really a guide to acronyms when you use an acronym that is never used. The community use CoE, not CotE. I don't care you view it as "wrong", but you're doing beginners no favors by using the incorrect acronym by community standards. Also, I refuse to say anything but WoM for Wrath of the Machine. Much more fun to say.
-
COTE!!!
-
1KYS - 1000 Yard Stare, a ridiculous sniper that's always used.
-
I'm going to start calling the new raid WOM from now it. It just kinda amuses me.
-
No one says CotE. It's CoE. Is it a little bit incorrect? Yes. Is it the most widespread and generally accepted acronym? Yes.
-
Roi is king in french. Just a thought.
-
NERF = all subclasses, weapons in destiny
-
Still hate that RoI...I just call it Rise
-
mrw til acronyms.
-
You should add in CBMM and SBMM because I still see people who are like wtf does that mean? Lol
-
What do the people who type acronyms do with the time that they save?
-
Very useful, thanks.
-
Nice list, just so you know TTK can also mean "time to kill"
-
You summed up these acro's perfectly.
