Low rate of fire scout rifles: Read Instead
What are their strengths, weaknesses, and how do they compare to other weapons in the crucible.
- These have a rate of fire of 150rpm
- Deal about 49 damage to the body and 73 to the head
- It takes 4 body shots to kill (5 for high armor targets) or 3 headshots (At least 2 headshots needed plus 1 body for low to mid armor targets)
- Maximum TTK (if you get all body shots) is 1.2s or 1.6s on high armor targets and Minimum TTK (if you get enough headshots) is 0.8s.
This archetype includes the Last Extremity (crucible), Colovance’s Duty (Iron Banner), Badger CCL (Vanguard) and others.
These scout rifles are a truly powerful and skillful kind of weapon. With an exceptional headshot TTK that beats out almost all other legendary primaries they are something you should be weary of. The enormous damage per shot can scare your enemies forcing them back into cover as well it can kill lightly armored targets more easily and with less body shots. More specifically you will be able to kill in one less body shot on hunters and warlocks as long as they are not running near max armor, you can only do this on titans who are running the lowest armor stat. The disadvantages are that the slow fire rate makes close quarter engagements difficult and highly punishes missing, the body shot TTK on high armor targets is very high, and that flinch can easily cause you to miss shots, which puts you at a serious disadvantage against anyone using high caliber rounds. Try to use these at long ranges and near cover so you have somewhere to go if you miss your shots. Of course since these are long range weapons they are best matched with a close range special, I recommend using a sidearm since it will be able be used further into medium range and not just at close.
These are great weapons, which are most suited for a skilled hand. In an average players hand these will likely be frustrating especially in competitive environments. For competitive play these scouts are definitely a viable option although their lack of versatility means you should either have good teamwork to keep the enemy where you want them or have a strong and versatile special weapon.
For perks some of the best are Life Support, Third Eye, Crowd Control, and Hidden Hand. For buffs be creative! look for different kinds of rounds like explosive rounds, try to increase your mag size, or even use things like snapshot or single point sling. A good stability role is nice but since the fire rate is so slow it’s really not needed at all.
Overall I would definitely recommend finding your self one of these low fire rate scouts and trying it out.
What do you think of these scout rifles? What perk roll do you have on yours?

But need skill? Lol

Basically they need skill and the lower fire rates are just as good and are more forgiving.
