It is still only a rumor, but a persisting one so it is likely to hold some truth. Honestly I don't think they are focused on competing with them instead the try to improve on the handheld market where they are still a strong contender. To be fair a powerfull handheld which can connect to an TV with good controlers isn't a bad idea.
