I'm depressed and lonely

I have no one in my life. Everyone I've ever talked to or known hates me. Everyone close to me gets hurt and then hate me. I feel like cutting myself. Divide runs though my thoughts constantly.
inb4suicidecopypaste
I hate my life. I feel like everyone would be better off if I never existed. I don't know what to do anymore. My life is boring and I've been extremely lonely for a long time.

Get a job, start working, stop complaining on the Internet. Life is shitty but not as shitty as you think.

          • Look man I feel kinda like you. I've never been able to get a girlfriend or anything and I'm super awkward and geeky. I actually ran away once, but when you talk to your parents in a serious tone about it they will show much support. I know it's hard, but you'll get through it

          • Same tbh. When I was actively cutting it reminded me I was still around if that makes sense. Most days I feel nothing lmao. Then my parents found out and I've never felt more shame in my life, (not even as much as when my mom walked in on me bating lel) and I haven't done it since. Still feel like a trash bag though.

                • So, I have depression as well and this is what I have learned throughout my life. A big one is to be active. Depressive thoughts and attitudes increase of you turn to your phone, computer, or video games as comfort. While those might in fact help some days, if you rely on them they will hurt you. Get out of your house and take a walk for an hour, or go work out for an hour. This helps your mental state tremendously. Another helpful tip is to write how you feel out in a journal. Just sit down and write until you feel as though you've gotten everything out. Writing helps put abstract thoughts into a concrete form, helping you identify problems that trigger/increase depressive moods. Also, buy a rubber band to fit around your wrist. Pop it every time you have an absurdly negative thought. Most depressive thoughts are lies or exaggerated thoughts. Pop the rubber band whenever you get super down. Hopefully the snap is enough to shock you out of this train of thought. Over time, your brain will associate the negative thoughts with being punished (the popping) and will eventually avoid the situations. (This is a method in psychology known as negative reinforcement.) And finally, get help. Speak to people about these thoughts. Call a hotline. Schedule a doctors appointment and tell them you might be depressed. They can do something about it. They can get you medicine to balance the imbalanced chemicals in your brain. They can get you a person to help talk you through your depressive states. You're life is valuable, and there are so many people willing to help. As for feeling lonely, find people to socialize with. I don't know your age, but your going to have to actively search for people to talk to. Churches usually have some sort of thing for high school students to chill at. On college campuses, there are plenty of clubs or organizations you can join and meet people through. It sucks, but you're going to have to initialize a bit in order to make friends. In short, exercise to relieve some depression. Write down things to identify key problems that set you off. Most depressive thoughts are lies that seem believable in your current state of mind. When feeling depressed, try to take all dark thoughts lightly. Find something to distract you when you start going down a depressing train of thought. I use a rubber band. And finally, talk to people. Qualified people. They have dedicated their lives to show that people like you how important they are, and how they can overcome this mindset. And for finding friends, try to initiate. Walking up to a group of people is scary, but try it. People are nicer than you think. And if you don't want to do that, go somewhere where people are gathered and try to find other people standing away from groups. Strike up a conversation with them. Anyways, I hope this helps you and anybody else who deals with this. You, or anybody that needs a person to talk to about this, can PM me. (Fair warning, I don't check my PM's very often, just because I don't use them. But if I see someone has contacted me, I'll constantly check it.)

                  • Trust me, not everyone would be better off without you. If you want to talk, PM me. Just please, don't say the world would be better off without you, because it won't. I once thought that way too, but it's not the case. Reach out to people, look at many of the comments to the post. Pick any one of the positive ones and send them a PM, I'm sure they'll give you their time. I've never met anyone I wasn't able to at least get along with.

                  • Your life may suck, but only you have the power to improve it. Do what makes you happy. Go for a walk or whatever. Make changes that you need to. Try to meet new people, you'll never know what can come from that. Do things that you never think you would ever do, put yourself out there. Start conversations with strangers, eat at a different restaurant, go to a lake and skip rocks. Adopt a pet, that pet can help you do new things and meet new people. Hope I've helped.

                    • Okay...you've stated the problem, albeit in a way that makes it seem exaggerated. You made a point, got it off your chest. Now...what exactly are you going to do from there? I understand venting out your frustrations. Everyone has them. Everyone has problems they run into during their lives that causes them. And laying it out is perfectly acceptable, it can clear the mind and better allow the process of complex thought. However, eventually...that can't just be it. Thoughts have to turn into plans, plans have to turn into action. You have to make a plan of action to turn the life you hate into a life you want. It may not be easy, it may be damn near impossible depending on the specific variables of your individual situation, but eventually you have to work at change to make change happen. I'm not trying sound unsympathetic, i'm just being honest with you. I hope you can make something of whatever you're going through or dealing with, I really do, but after all is said done...doing so, is really a matter that's up to you.

                          • Go to youth centres or try to join a group that have people with same interests. I know its hard to find a friend, I'm a shy and socially awkward person with trust issues. If I managed to find a good friend you will have no problem.
