I've never played a Souls game before. I bought this when it was 15$ a few months ago. I'm starting my first playthrough and was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice?

It's great fun. Only real problem is the lack of memorable bosses, with the Mirror Night and Pursuer bieng the only truly exceptional base bosses. The areas all look great, and the DLC are absolutely amazing.

Edited by BFGesus: 8/2/2016 11:43:17 AMYou're better off starting from DS1. DS2 is so different from the other two that it might as well be in a different series. There are hardly any lore connections with the other games. It's not that bad of a game, but it doesn't deserve nearly as much praise as people give it. As for advice, get the estoc as early as you can. It will -blam!- everything.

Use a guide. The Souls series loves to block off content by making the routes to them obscenely obscure. This is a trend in all the Souls games.

Dont play it please it will ruin the series for you

Make the Agility stat 115 or higher and you can dodge roll through everything. It made the game a lot more enjoyable

Edited by Bopsheezi: 8/1/2016 2:47:15 PMSpecialize, don't generalize. Pick one or two main stats to focus on and stick with them. Find the ring of binding early on. (Saw this in the thread already) Always have a ranged option. Always have an escape plan. Talk to every NPC you find until they get fed up with you. Only summon if you are truly struggling. Take breaks if you get frustrated. Buy repair powder. Lots and lots of repair powder. Don't judge the entire series based on this one, especially the bosses. Actual spoiler below:
I'm looking at you prowling Magus and congregation. Can I even call you a boss?
Even if it's not the most organic playthrough, find someone who has played the game before and if you are stuck ask them what to do next. Don't really bother with the covenants in the beginning. And last but not least... ...PRAISE THE SUN!!!
