This isn't tongue-in-cheek, this isn't sarcastic, and this isn't even meant as a "haha you're stuck in the past" barb at the PS3 and 360 players.
I'm just legit amazed that you guys haven't gotten together and said, "This is not what we were promised when we invested $60 - $100+ in buying this game and the updates that it turned out. We're not going to settle for this treatment and this kind of exclusionary behavior, just because we're less financially-capable of buying a next-gen console."
Don't get me wrong, I 100% understand the hardware limitations that come with the older consoles, and I 100% understand that Destiny has just about reached that limitation on both machines. But it goes way beyond that, with all of the extra-steps they've been taking to proverbially cut the balls off of the last-gen players.
They could've honestly just left it at, "You won't be getting the next big expansion, because it just can't support what we're trying to do with it." But Bungie has seen fit to not only cross the line, but barrel across it and then piss all over it once they're on the other side.
> "You won't be getting exotics from Xur anymore."
> "You won't be playing Trials of Osiris anymore; you won't be getting Trials-Gear anymore."
> "You won't be playing Iron Banner anymore; you won't be getting Iron Banner-Gear anymore."
> "You won't be enjoying the live-events like Festival of the Lost anymore."
> "You won't be getting anymore updates to gear, and so you won't be getting higher light-levels anymore."
And that's just a few things to list off. Bungie has basically told you guys, "The game's over until you decide to upgrade. Now go piss up a rope." All of this is why I'm amazed that these two communities haven't gotten together and said, "No. -blam!- that shit. Class-Action Lawsuit."
Don't get me wrong; I'm on my Next-Gen console, personally. I'm 100% ready for the update and waiting eagerly for September. But as someone who's spent most of my life being stuck in "Last-Gen" situations, as far back as the PS2 era (I didn't get a PS2 of my own until almost 2005), I feel bad for you guys.
To me, this just seems like you're getting a bad cut, no matter how you slice it.

They got a "full game" they got a finished product in a sense, they get no promises of future add ons, so no, not valid
-
Why is this even a topic? Have you turds forgotten how to read, or are you truly idiotic to the point of someone should stick you in an assisted living condition? Read the EULA. You have no rights, no recourse, no say in your characters, the game, anything. It's all owned by Bungie and the host publisher Activision. You can't sue, for any reason at any time. You play at their mercy, on their game, at their discretion. From someone on the 360. Get an education before posting stupid shit like this.
-
I'm not mad about this since I am stuck on legacy consoles, I'm more focused on anime and stuff especially with this Re:Zero episode 18 climax o3o I'm getting current gen console when Xbox One Slim comes though xD
-
EULA. TOS. Bungie could stop producing content for all consoles, delete all current content, prevent anyone from ever logging in again, and it would all be perfectly legal and acceptable according to the EULA and TOS. The same EULA and TOS that everyone who plays Destiny checked a box and said "Yes I agree to this." Before even logging in for the first time. We, as players have entered into a licensing agreement which prevents us from initiating the kind of lawsuit mentioned in the OP. There would have to be severe gross negligence on the part of Bungie or Activision to make something like that viable. I know that there are a lot of people who may say that there is just cause for a lawsuit, but before you go down that path, read the actual EULA and TOS. Then remember that it is your responsibility to read and understand it before agreeing to it.

In in the Terms, the players agreed that some services may be disabled under Bungie's power. ~TheGreatNike
-
Lmao okay um, they aren't choosing to leave these players out. The console literally won't be able to run it. They just marked the xb1 down to a three hundred dollar price point. Save money, upgrade, move on. It's not impossible.
-
Shut up and Upgrade
-
If the console can't handle it, the console can't handle it, Bungie won't dumb down the updates making them worse for current generation so old gen can play it, it's happening with GTA 5 too
-
Idiot.
-
Legacy consoles are what is holding destiny back completely and I speak as a legacy player. There is no case because at the end of the day it is the truth.
-
Edited by ValorNDarkness: 8/1/2016 1:42:32 AMPersonally no I wouldn't say they are getting a raw deal. Bungie had listed fall of 2016 originally as a launch for Destiny 2, which would've been next gen only regardless. So frankly they said without saying that Destiny 1 would be dead for next generation by that time frame anyways. They just decided to squeeze another year out of Destiny 1 and eliminating old gen probably makes it easier for them to move seamlessly back into Destiny 2 development I'd imagine.
-
Lmao.

Edited by WulfPak666: 8/1/2016 1:40:52 AMOh, there are lots of people saying they will sue *insert game company here* but They don't have money to fight *insert game company here* lawyers It's not like you can just drive up to *insert game company here* building, throw down some paper and say "I'm gonna sue you" Despite what you hear on the news, people trying to sue companies rarely get anywhere passed "I'm gonna sue you" unless the company is obviously at fault beyond a doubt and it also depends on how much damage it did. And even then, those cases dont get very far either.
-
There is zero case against them. If anything like that was going to happen, it would have been in year 1 as a false advertisement suit and it's not worth it. You can't sue a company because you make bad assumptions. You received the product you paid for when you purchased it.
-
I personally enjoy pissing up ropes. Strong streams equals a strong prostate, my friend.
-
Huh? it's not like they turned off the game, consumers can still play it.
-
They got what they did pay for. More so than most other games if you look at it as hours played.
-
I think a huge majority of players are on the new consoles.
-
This is why bungie is dropping last gen with the Rise of Iron. Destiny is already very big for next gen, and since they keep adding MAJOR expansions to the game it keeps getting more and more difficult to run it on last gen consoles. This was going to happen eventually, previous generations always fade into the past, always. It's almost about time I stop seeing last gen games in stores.
-
I don't get it. Services everywhere gets shutdown because of favouring new tech. It's the way you make progress. Someone will always be left behind, but aslong as the majority progresses, it's for the greater good
-
You forget that we all have agreed to the terms of service of said "limited software agreement" So I'd love to see them try and have bungie's lawyers say "Sad stories make me cry" As they laugh their asses off
-
Yeah, because a dev has never shut down access to online features...
-
It is true that they are getting a bad cut. I'm sorry, but too often fact is denoted as opinion simply because it suits the people who control/alter what we perceive as part of our daily lives. Sadly, there is a security measure in place, "legally". They can't do anything, basically you sign over all rights to anything like that when you sign up for shit like Destiny.
-
Without even reading any of the replies yet, all Bungie has to is pull out their copy of the EULA or whatever it's called that everyone has to agree to before playing. It very clearly states they can alter, modify, or discontinue anything they want without cause anytime they feel like it. So while it sucks for last gen players, there's nothing they can do.
-
A. They know they would lose B. The EULA States Bungie can alter, add, or discontinue anything they want at anytime, you agreed to it.
