First I want to start by saying this isn't going to be a rant. (At least not totally. lol) And I want to say Thanks Bungie, for giving me an excellent game to play for the better part of 2 years. It has been a wild ride full of fun, laughter, and sometimes frustration. But definitley an interesting ride the whole way.
However... I; as a legacy player that's been around since Beta, will of course be a bit sad to see the Destiny community move forward without me. (I don't plan on buying current gen anytime soon.) One of the main things that made me sad (and made my whole PS3 clan sad) was the fact that we weren't going to be able to play Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris anymore.
We have always been a Crucible first kind of clan and to us we always felt that the Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris were... Just Part of the Game. The only reason most of us have gotten over or near 320 is because of the Iron Banner drops and infusion. I've never even beaten King's Fall! Or taken on the Challenge of the Elders! (I know some people will consider that heresy. lol) I just like pvp in shooting games and those pve events just feel like too much of a hassle to bother with all the time. Only occasionally. I think having the Crucible as a reliable way of gaining Light should be just as important as "end game activities." And now my only reliable and preferred way of raising my Light is going away? But all the happy pve players get to keep their King's Fall and Challenge of Elders? Why is that? And how is it that Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris are considered "live events" when they happen all the time? lol.
That being said I really just wish for one thing. A parting gift. A thank you gift of some kind. I know this is wishful thinking but my first, kind of bigger idea is this...
Two permanent Crucible playlists. One that is like the Iron Banner that drops Year Two and maybe even Year One Iron Banner rewards with increasing Light.
And one that is like Trials of Osiris with Year Two and maybe even Year One Trial of Osiris rewards at the end of matches.
These post-match rewards for both playlist would also include armor shaders, emblems, and ships. And both of these playlists could be level advantages enabled or even not enabled, either way.
But the big difference between these modes and the real events would be: No Lord Saladin in the Tower, No rank up packages, No bounties from Brother Vance in the Reef, and no Trials Passages (which means no trips to the Lighthouse.)
That's my first idea for a goodbye and thank you to legacy players. A bare bones version of both Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris. If this is not acceptable then other options would be to just put all these rewards as frequent post-match rewards in ALL the regular Crucible playlists. Or make these rewards as a 2nd and 3rd guaranteed reward from Crucible rank up packages. The packages would have their one normal guaranteed rewards, then an Iron Banner guaranteed reward, then a Trials of Osiris guaranteed reward, and of course the normal possible rewards.
Just a few options for keeping the Crucible viable for Legacy Players going forward.
My other idea is fairly simple. Give us Year One infusion. On all armor and weapons that we still have from Year One. And all of this would be for LEGACY CONSOLES ONLY. To give us something to enjoy until we might can move forward to current gen.
But yeah those are my ideas. All I'm asking for is a thank you for our time and money spent. Not too much too ask right? I don't think so. Thank you to all who read this and God Bless. :)
(EDIT: A little clarification for some people that are apparently confused. I'm NOT asking to keep Iron Banner or Trials of Osiris. I'm just asking for a way to be able to still get the CURRENT rewards those two events currently reward. And I'm NOT asking for new rewards. Just wanted everyone to know that.)

How about a door knob imprint on your ass.
-
That's not up to the community. Especially seeing as it won't affect current gen players l, they have no reason to complain. If Bungie decides to do this then cool
-
They already gave you a gift, they made the game available for legacy consoles on release. That was not the original plan. The way I see it, you have already received your gift. Now upgrade and move on.

Your gift from me is..
a spoiler click and a wave emote.

+1 more spoiler click. /wave
-
A goodbye gift? You're setting yourself up for a note in the Postmaster telling you to upgrade, bud.
-
etheric light

For some reason this reminds me of playing GTA 5 on Xbox 360....
its full of modders
Now I suspect Destiny on 360/PS3 will go the same way, it will be a play ground for modders
-
Ha! Hahahaha!

That sounds interesting, that would be nice for the legacy players. The problem is that those consoles are already at their limits. The touch of malice can't even do the animation, and legacy players can't do certain emotes. In order to do something like that for them there would have to be a sacrifice of something somewhere, like axe off the dark below lol. But seriously those consoles can't handle anymore so the likelihood of that happening is no. Maybe a banner or a shader or something.

I was last gen console playing destiny and I'm glad I stopped playing this game and I'm okay with them "discontinuing" stuff for last gen. Feel like I'm not missing much from this game tbh lol.
-
You're asking too much, I rather have them unlock Blades of Crota & Wolves again!
-
You should get an emblem An emblem of your respective legacy consoles
-
Your gift is the continued support to even be able to play the game on old consoles. Be thankful they aren't disconnecting it entirely.
-
This is a terrible idea and simply shows the entitlement issues that people like you think they deserve. Bungie needs to disconnect from the PS3/Xbox360 completely in my opinion as there is really no reason why any gamer should still be using those consoles at this point. Ps4/xb1 have been out for what like 2-3 years now? Time to upgrade sorry if that stings but it's the truth.
-
The only thing they should really give us is all the exotics in year 2 value and Year 2 Raids. (:
-
You've been around since Beta, and still have no idea of how and why end game works the way it does. Besides, you'll be at the LL needed for the content you'll be left with. Lastly, why should Bungie give you a parting gift? For playing their game that you chose to?
-
You should get a middle finger emote
-
How about a nice kick in the balls as a parting gift
pun intended
-
I'd hardly call the challenge of elders a challenge. It's by far the easiest end game content.
-
My Apologies for the suggestion: a "thank you" emote?
-
I think that the digital upgrade service is a gift in itself. It really is very convenient.
-
How about no
-
I am on xbone and wouldn't mind this, let the old gen players have something too
-
They did. It was code named "beaver"

A kick in the ass
