First I want to start by saying this isn't going to be a rant. (At least not totally. lol) And I want to say Thanks Bungie, for giving me an excellent game to play for the better part of 2 years. It has been a wild ride full of fun, laughter, and sometimes frustration. But definitley an interesting ride the whole way.
However... I; as a legacy player that's been around since Beta, will of course be a bit sad to see the Destiny community move forward without me. (I don't plan on buying current gen anytime soon.) One of the main things that made me sad (and made my whole PS3 clan sad) was the fact that we weren't going to be able to play Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris anymore.
We have always been a Crucible first kind of clan and to us we always felt that the Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris were... Just Part of the Game. The only reason most of us have gotten over or near 320 is because of the Iron Banner drops and infusion. I've never even beaten King's Fall! Or taken on the Challenge of the Elders! (I know some people will consider that heresy. lol) I just like pvp in shooting games and those pve events just feel like too much of a hassle to bother with all the time. Only occasionally. I think having the Crucible as a reliable way of gaining Light should be just as important as "end game activities." And now my only reliable and preferred way of raising my Light is going away? But all the happy pve players get to keep their King's Fall and Challenge of Elders? Why is that? And how is it that Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris are considered "live events" when they happen all the time? lol.
That being said I really just wish for one thing. A parting gift. A thank you gift of some kind. I know this is wishful thinking but my first, kind of bigger idea is this...
Two permanent Crucible playlists. One that is like the Iron Banner that drops Year Two and maybe even Year One Iron Banner rewards with increasing Light.
And one that is like Trials of Osiris with Year Two and maybe even Year One Trial of Osiris rewards at the end of matches.
These post-match rewards for both playlist would also include armor shaders, emblems, and ships. And both of these playlists could be level advantages enabled or even not enabled, either way.
But the big difference between these modes and the real events would be: No Lord Saladin in the Tower, No rank up packages, No bounties from Brother Vance in the Reef, and no Trials Passages (which means no trips to the Lighthouse.)
That's my first idea for a goodbye and thank you to legacy players. A bare bones version of both Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris. If this is not acceptable then other options would be to just put all these rewards as frequent post-match rewards in ALL the regular Crucible playlists. Or make these rewards as a 2nd and 3rd guaranteed reward from Crucible rank up packages. The packages would have their one normal guaranteed rewards, then an Iron Banner guaranteed reward, then a Trials of Osiris guaranteed reward, and of course the normal possible rewards.
Just a few options for keeping the Crucible viable for Legacy Players going forward.
My other idea is fairly simple. Give us Year One infusion. On all armor and weapons that we still have from Year One. And all of this would be for LEGACY CONSOLES ONLY. To give us something to enjoy until we might can move forward to current gen.
But yeah those are my ideas. All I'm asking for is a thank you for our time and money spent. Not too much too ask right? I don't think so. Thank you to all who read this and God Bless. :)
(EDIT: A little clarification for some people that are apparently confused. I'm NOT asking to keep Iron Banner or Trials of Osiris. I'm just asking for a way to be able to still get the CURRENT rewards those two events currently reward. And I'm NOT asking for new rewards. Just wanted everyone to know that.)

You're basically the guy who is getting fired but wants next weeks pay Lol.
-
Sounds like you're getting the finger. What else can you ask for?
-
Suck it up and by a new console they have been out years. Finally we can start getting better content. Its more than likely guna be destiny 2 for that.
-
A Box of Raisins would be perfect for Legacy players.
-
If you do upgrade, dont buy Destiny all over again. Its not even worth it, just wait for D2.
-
They can say, "Congratulations" when you upgrade to a next-gen console.
-
-
-
Serious question....how old are you?
-
Ah I tried to do a post like this but as this one did got shit on. Lol In mine I suggested something for everyone not just legacy. But it was to give legacy something to do while we wait to upgrade. Some people eh?
-
I don't really see a problem with something like this; but Bungie wants to discourage the use of last-gen Destiny so I wouldn't expect anything.
-
I think this is a solid idea. You deserve something for getting the game pulled out from under you. That being said I do agree with the change
-
A great goodbye gift would be the ability to play destiny offline.
-
An anniversary set of the original armor styles would be nice.
-
Sadly, bungie hasn't treated it's old gen players very well, you bought the old game? Buy it again for current gen when you upgrade. Dlc's? Buy them again. And now two years later after the release they are leaving your characters behind. Just like the vault of glass and crota's end.
-
Why should they? I never got anything for doing flawless raider "SOLO"
not that I'm on their side
-
Bungo agrees: you'll get a final fusion rifle nerf. Enjoy.
-
Piss off, nerd.
-
If you get one for not upgrading I want one for upgrading.
-
Your goodbye gift is the ability to transfer characters from old gen to current gen
-
They most likely won't provide you anything, old gen console servers will be going down within the next year or two so there's no point. If you don't want to pay for current gen consoles (you had the opportunity it upgrade ttk for free) then I'd suggest playing a different game.
-
Ps4's will cost about $200 when the new consoles come out, and they are already dropping in price, you've spent almost that much money on destiny alone, I think you can get a console to go with it
-
No. No sympathy from me. I hope they don't put in an ounce more effort or moment of time on last gen. They've already wasted far too many resources on it. They owe you nothing.
-
How about a swift kick in the ass on your way out?
-
Im not sure about making year 1 stuff infusable but the the rest of the idea is actually really good! I wont be getting a new gen console anytime soon either due to having responsibilities but for the crucible endgame activities, trials should have rotating maps and iron banner have rotating game modes to keep things interesting

Entitlement is strong in this one.
