Hello! I'm back after a while of nothing. Today I'll discuss what I (and my Clanmates) think the Aegis is made of.
As you may know, the Card for the Aegis says this:
From my own Light and the thinking flesh of the Vex I made a shield.
This makes us think the legendary Titan Kabr, the Legionless sacrificed himself for the future of Guardians. We also theorized that he killed a Gorgon, and I believe (maybe others) this because the Gorgons have the ability to change fate, without the need of Oracles like the Templar does.
But you may be think, "But how can we use the Aegis against the Templar if the Gorgons are AFTER the Templar encounter?!" So, here is probably the most farfetched idea of Destiny Lore I have ever heard:
Maybe, in a different timeline, the Vault of Glass was arranged differently.
Maybe in one timeline the Vault started with the Gorgon's Labyrinth, and instead of dropping into the jumping puzzle they fell into the Templar's Well! It would explain the Aegis's location.
Another theory is that Kabr made the Aegis a fundamental law in the Vault, and that maybe a part of him still is in the Aegis, and wants to help us Guardians through the Vault to end Atheon, Time's Conflux. Or maybe both theories work hand and hand!
Ahem. Sorry, being the Warlock I am I usually go on rants about things...
So yeah, that's what the collective minds of Destiny can think of! Hope you enjoyed!

My one and only question is how did kabr manage to drop a Gorgon?

I thank you cyber. Join me. Fight to bring him back. To continue his legacy. To be consumed. ~Ebones, Disciple of Kabr These are the last words of Kabr, the Legionless: I have destroyed myself to do this. They have taken my Ghost. They are in my blood and brain. But now there is hope. I have made a wound in the Vault. I have pierced it and let in the Light. Bathe in it, and be cleansed. Look to it, and Understand: From my own light and from the thinking flesh of the Vex I made a shield. The shield is your deliverance. It will break the unbreakable. It will change your fate. Bind yourself to the shield. Bind yourself to me. And if you abandon your purpose, let the Vault consume you, as it consumed me. Now it is done. If I speak again, I am not Kabr.
