We were on 7 wins no losses, and we get drawn with people that were 1000 ranks above us on ELO rating. I know trials is meant to increase in difficulty the further you go on. But 1000 ranks above us? 2 of them nearly had above 3 k/ds. The other was nearly above 2. It's not fair when that happens, we got destroyed 5-0. The trials matchmaking system needs to be fixed so that extremely good players get drawn with the same level of skill players. And people like me and my fireteam get drawn with people of same skill level.
For those of you who don't know what ELO rating is, go to guardian.gg to find out. My fireteam and I are around 1300. They were above 2300. This should not happen bungie.
Edit 1: For those of you who seem to be thinking I want ELO based matchmaking, that is not the case. I would just prefer to have a better matchmaking system that actually made it a challenge for you but not easy.
If you think about, the best of the best will still get drawn together and it will be a challenge for them, then the rest can be low skill to slightly above moderate skill so that it is still a challenge for people

If you're going to use something as a basis for your argument, please use it correctly. It is Elo and not ELO. ELO would indicate that it is an acronym. The Elo rating system was named after Arpad Elo.. Also - Destiny could care less about what yours or anyone else's Elo rating is simply due to it's not tracked in the game. (regardless of what a 3rd party site has) What you're asking for is a matchmaking system that favors skill and we all know how well this community loves the concept of SBMM. Besides - I thought that ToO looks at wins first and foremost.. the more matches you win means you get matched against those of equal standings.
-
Everyone seems to hate sbmm until it makes it easier for them . You simply got unlucky as trials is based on the card
-
Edited by ImOnPlate2Guys: 7/27/2016 4:12:46 PMSo... you got outplayed? It's like you guys never played competitive sports... Sometimes the other team destroys you, just take the loss and come back stronger another time!
-
Get good
-
No. Any team can outplay any other team
-
Looking at the comments, I think people misunderstand what you mean. Haha, pretty sad. People will avoid the main topic pretty easily. That's like the equivalent to me getting matched up with a streamer (and it's happened before).
-
If my irl friends who mainly play -blam!-ing zombies and minecraft can go flawless a handful of times, you can too.
-
Trials of Osiris is an endgame activity . You get better, you win . At the start of trials in year 2 I struggled for a bit , but I learned to play analytically and since November can go flawless as many times I want a weekend. Just like everything in life, if you want something, even a flawless victory in a game. You have to work for it.
-
There is no structural matchmaking. You could get paired up against the worst players in trials then the top three in the world. That's kind of the point. Trials is for THE BEST to be the best you must beat the best
-
So those players who put time, effort and dedication into this game to improve should be punished once again in favour of casuals? No thanks, I'll pass.
-
I'd love to find more people around 2000 elo. The people I play have potato thumbs. I want to compete for my elo. Not just farm it off kids that can't get a round on me. Makes me feel not deserving of 1900 elo.
-
People cry for months about SBMM - then Bungie strip it back and people start crying about random hard matches they get thrown. The simple fact is none of this has much to do with matchmaking at all - there are so few players still active the game struggles to consistently find a reasonable match. Wait until RoI comes out - you'll probably find Trials to be the easiest it's been in a very long time - but it won't last long.
-
Wasn't that bad for me sure I lost one which only stripped my mercy boon but other than that it was pretty chill even if it was getting clearly intense in the end. The lighthouse was pretty warm this past week
-
But they don't want to play "hard" matches. They may lose twitch viewers.
-
Why is everything in this game "not fair" to you whiny nerds...
-
I feel your pain, I had to reset 3 cards (buh-bye 27 trials coins) this weekend because we kept facing 8-0 and 9+ teams in our first and second matches. That should NOT happen . Do that to us at match 5 or 6 and that's understandable, but don't match me against scarab hunters in my first match and take away my 9 coins like that !!!!!
-
Or it could go back to the way it was in year 1.
-
It happens but tbh it's not worth going flawless unless you've never been there. You can always ask to get carried though.
-
I couldn't care less about ELO. CBMM is the fairest matchmaking out there. It works in favor of a good PvPer in normal Crucible and IB, but it also works in favor of the better-than-average Joe in Trials to get that last flawless win. And everybody has a good connection.
-
So you mean skill based matchmaking.......
-
I'm with you I have a team that's is in Rusted/Silver tier and on our first game we get put up against sweats then the next 2/3 games after that are a breeze...like there goes our boons on our first game, the best we have achieved was 5-0 on our card then we got stomped in our next 4 games...
-
Same here. Yesterday first game 2 of the opposition had over 2.5kd an 3 guy was 3.05. All over 2.200elo. My fireteam highest kd was 1.56 an highest elo is 1400. So tell me how we even stand a chance. Matchmaking is a joke an should go back to how it was in year 1
-
The best of the best don't want to get matched up against equally skilled competition. They want it to be random so that they can frequently go up against scrubs that don't have a clue and get easy wins.
-
I agree 100%. I'd like to see these high elo players go against other high elo players. There is no reason bronze, silver or gold is being matched against diamond. They stand 0 chance and we all know it. The diamond tier players want to play insanely sweaty? Cool. At least put them against other people who are trying as hard as them.
