There has been a bunch of little changes in Destiny since the launch. Let's name some!
- Pulse and Auto Rifles had a deeper firing tone to them.
- After defending the first Conflux in Vault of Glass, there was a game audio bug that caused many things to loose sound, like Vex walking and firing sounds. This almost made Vault of Glass more eerie.
- UI changes, including how Spinmetal, Relic Iron, Helium Filaments, and Spirit Bloom looked. Font changes, and backround colour change while paused.
- Ascendant Energy and Shards were Rare, not Legendary items.
- The original Queen's Wrath event that took place in the Tower, and unique items from that event like The Supremacy Queen's Legendary Sniper Rifle, "Chasing Infinity" Queen's Ship, and the 3 Blue (Rare) weapons Petra Venj first ever sold, which were Her Right Hand, Vesta Noblese, and Merciless.
- The famous Loot Cave in Skywatch that people would farm for hours.
- Raid cheeses, including pushing The Templar and Atheon off the ledge to insta-kill them, and unplugging your router right as Crota kneels so he gets stuck in that position.
- Suros Regime didn't always have 2 different firing sounds. After unlocking Focus Fire, it had the same tone when ADSing and when you didn't ADS.
- Thorn and Bad Juju were by far 2 of the worst Exotics and Pocket Infinity and Vex Mythoclast were by far 2 of the best Exotics.
- Randal the Vandal and his little friend Hank the Shank. (And Greg the Dreg)
- Legendary Engrams would turn into Blue (Rare) items probably 90% of the time.
- Melee and Grenade icons were a darker greyish-green colour.
- Bastion and First Light Crucible Maps were in every 6v6 playlist and small maps like Asylum, The Burning Shrine, etc weren't in any 6v6 playlists, only 3v3s.
- Blind Watch crucible map had horrible Control points making the map very unbalanced. All 3 control points were later changed to different locations.
- The Devils Lair strike was harder then a Raid. That Devil Walker was a real pain, and of course there were bounties for destroying it that nobody wanted to do.
- The grind was a lot harder and guns and armour took a lot longer to level up.
- Nightfalls returned you to orbit if all players died.
- Forever 29, 31 Struggle.
- Dinklebot's horrible voice acting! (Sorry Peter!)
- Limit to only 5 bounty slots that you had to go to the Tower to turn them in. Uhhhgg.
- Losing Heavy ammo when you died. WHAT A BLOODY PAIN THAT MADE CROAT.
- Vendor/Faction rank up packages went to the postmaster.
- You got a package for the first public event you did each day. People would stacks those for XP.
- Faction/Vendor rank up icons were circular, not diamond shaped.
- Sword? What's a sword? You mean the Sword of Crota? That's all there was.
- Getting the Ether Chest multiple times after killing the pack of wolves during the House of Wolves era. We farmed that thing!
- Valus Tu'arc was the biggest bullet sponge in the game.
- Xylar, The Timeless! (Not a real thing, more of a running joke on the forums.)
- Everybody wanted a Gjallarhorn!
(Fun Fact: Gjallarhorn was first sold by Xûr the 2nd week he ever visited the Tower.)
- The Urn of Sacrafice and Wanted: Fallen Wolves Quests that are no longer in the game. BYE URZOK!
- Vanguard Mentor Missive AKA Exotic Weapon Bounties were in the game for Invective, Bad Juju, Super Good Advice, Thorn, and Pocket Infinity.
- Marks were separate per character, so any activity that granted marks had to be done on each character, AKA harder grind!
- There were Vanguard Marks for purchasing Vanguard Gear and Crucible Marks for purchasing Crucible and Faction Gear. No Legendary Marks. You got Crucible Marks from crucible matches and Vanguard Marks from strikes.
- Turning in planetary materials (Spinmetal, Helium Filaments, Spirit Bloom, and Relic Iron) to the Vanguard or Crucible Quartermasters for XP, Glimmer, and Vanguard or Crucible Marks.
- Red Death back in the day was a 30/59 Archetype Pulse Rifle, not the current 14/66 it is now. This means it had 30 Impact and 59 Rate of Fire. It use to be just like The Messenger. Also, Aggressive Ballistics now grants half the impact it use to, and also has added reoil.
- Omnigul rainbow burn Nightfall. All three burn modifiers could be active at once.
- "Don't open the spirit bloom chest, the Exotic chest will dissappear!"
- The Stranger's Rifle was a Rare (blue) weapon, not Legendary like it is now.
- Sunbreaker? You mean the Warlock gauntlets right? What's a 3rd Subclass?
- Exotic armour colour didn't change with shaders. We were fashion lost back then.
- Weekly Heroic Strikes were different, and always granted Strange Coins.
- Skolas Arc Burn was the Bane of everyone in House of Wolves.
- Before there was Armour Materials, each Class had its own material for upgrading its armour. Titans had Plasteel Plating, Warlocks had Hardronic Essence, and Hunters had Sapphire Wire. The Armour Material thumbnail is a picture of all 3 of those items.
- Elemental Primaries, such as the Solar Vision of Confluence, Arc Fatebringer, Void Word of Crota, and many more!
- Items couldn't be moved with any app or website. You had to go to the Tower, stuff your gear in the Vault, change character, go to the Tower, grab you gear, and if you forgot one thing, you had to do it all over again.
- Random invites when at the Tower if you were a certain level, class, or using a certain item. (Glowhoo)
- The vault was way smaller, as seen here. What a pain that was.
- The Planet Directory looked a lot different as well, as seen here.
- Heavy Synthesis only stacked up to 20, not 100. Also, Xûr use to sell 5 Heavy Synths for 1 Strange Coin, not 3 for 1 Strange Coin.
- "A CELL, FROM THE PRISON OF ELDERS. THE ARCHON PRIEST IS STILL INSIDE." - Dinklebot September 2014 - September 2015
- Classic Year One title music. Sounded a lot different then it does now. Definitely a lot less evil sounding.
- Crota Chasing after you into the Crystal Room.
- The 3 Frames in the Tower that you could interact with and bring up a map of the Tower with. One by the Tower balcony near spawn, one near Eva Levante, and one in the Tower Hangar. RIP THOSE GUYS! PROBABLY RECYCLED FOR SCRAP, NOW.
- Orbs of Light were more plentiful in Year One. Supers could generate up to 9 orbs and in PvE, killing a Major would generate 4 orbs. NowMajors only generate 2 orbs.
- Final Round on High Impact Sniper Rifles could 1 shot - body shot players. Trials of Osiris was plagued with these. COUGH COUGH EFRIDEET'S COUCH!
- No Fireteam/Game voice chat channels in-game.
- The Heavy Ammo Drought of 2014/2015 where for a couple months, Xur wasn't selling Heavy Synths and players had to rely on Banshee and his over priced Synths.
- Shotguns were horrible in PvE until they received a 100% Damage Buff which absolutely made them insane. They were later nerfed slightly, LOL!
- The perk Shot Package was in the game and certain, extremely rare, Shotguns could roll with both Shot Package and Rangefinder.
- Heavy Ammo Synthesis would not generate any ammo in your Weapon if you used it while dead.
- Hopscotch Pilgrim was one of the most sought after Legendary Pulse Rifles in the game. People would farm Vanguard Strikes for hours in hopes of this weapon. It was immediately nerfed and had its whole archetype changed. Sad face.
- Suros Regime, the King of Vanilla PvP, along with Shadow Price and Vanquisher at its side.
- Weapon Foundries were a lot more simple. There were some blue (Rare) SUROS weapons, along with Suros Regime, along with only 1 Omolon weapon, the Hard Light. There were no real Häkke weapon, but Tex Mechanica's The Last Word still existed. Also, the missing Foundries like Cassoid (Invective), Crux/Lomar (Truth, Gjallarhorn, Dragons Breath), and Daito (???).
- Nightfall Strikes undoubtedly were more generous with loot and gear, BUT in Year One, there was a chance you could only receive ~12 Ascendant Energy, Shards, or Strange Coins. That was a real pain. Still beats a 290 Ghost and Blue Engram IMO.
- Nightfalls would grant an XP buff upon completion, and this buff would also give your character a cool blue flame helmet effect, similar to the Eternal armour effect in Halo Reach.

Squatting outside of the shrieker room door when the Summoning Pits was a Nightfall & having your teammate jump on top of you, then you slowly back out so that he could shoot Phogoth without worrying about being kicked to orbit.
