Are you for or against it?
The arguments I have heard so far...
For:
- Keeps races close. It's often a tight dash to the finish.
- Allows newer players a chance at glory without having to drop $5m+ on a fleet of top-end custom machinery.
Against:
- Punishes higher-skilled players by handicapping them; they use their skill to get away from the pack only to be dragged back in, leaving them cheated when they get smashed off the track by Laggy McLagface.
- A higher-level player's shiny wheels acquired using hard-earned* cash become worthless.
Personally, I hate catchup.
*Yes, I know money glitches have been a thing for a long time.
-
Catch-up should never be in any form of racing or racing game ever
-
Contact, slip stream, catchup- off
-
No catch up, no custom vehicles, only vans
-
what's next?.......participation trophy?....everyone ties for first?

Edited by Seraphim Crypto: 7/24/2016 2:03:22 PMIn my personal opinion Catchup/Rubberbanding is one of the worst inventions in Racing Video Game History. I can understand the sense behind it, but in my opinion if I am simply better than the rest I shouldn't be made slower or they faster. It destroys the meaning of Skill in Racing Games, not to mention it's completely unrealistic (even while its only a virtual game). If anything, there should always be separate Playlists, one with Catchup for the more casual Racers, and one without Catchup for the Purists. I don't like it in GTA Online either, which is the reason why I always host my own lobbies turning Catchup off, and I leave any lobbies having the option enabled.

For: It doesn't screw the rest of the ppl racing. And if you're good enough, you can still stay in first the whole race even with catch up on. I do it almost every race.
-
I say if catch up is off then custom vehicles should be off.
-
It's called rubber-banding and its shit
-
I hate races in any game
-
Being against Catchup is like wanting to remove Mario Karts blue shell...
-
Personally I ALWAYS turn custom vehicles off. Sure you can show your cool supercar off that everyone else has but I prefer equal odds. As for the catch-up, I keep it on because if it isn't the races just feel very dull and less exciting.
-
No contact ftw
-
If the vehicles aren't really comparable, it's ok. But if I'm actually trying to race randoms, and we all have stock vehicles, it's not catchup. I'm a good driver, if you guys suck that's your problem.
-
I find it handy with some races, especially with a few of mine, in a few cases it has kept a race more competitive rather than have people rely on luck
-
I don't feel like catchup is much of problem for me. Most players I've seen race suck at turning corners.
-
I hate it. I spend in game cash to get good vehicles along with upgrades, and I'm actually a pretty decent driver. If I'm in first place for essentially the entire race only for someone to randomly catch up to me in the last 10 seconds to win i find that to be complete B.S as i lose out on the reward that comes with being first. If it's with friends i don't care though.
-
sounds like a "bungievision" thing. so no.
-
I think its a lot more fun, but i only race with friends
