"Here's what we will do, Claudius you will take the mercenarius around the rear of the eldar and attack, then the legion and Auxlilia will attack from the front. They will be unable to escape, no one survives, I have information that the slaves are just a ruse for something else, though I don't know what."
There was silence and then the younger tribune objected.
"I don't trust the mercenarius, but you seem to. You take them. I'll lead the men. That way you can execute the plan better."

-
"And if we happen to get killed by friendlies in the confusion.... Heh. Clever." *Shadow grins at the idea of a real fight*
-
"Claudius, you should not be so paranoid. In that case I'll leave soon." There was the sound of armor moving as the tribunes and centurions left the tent, and could be seen leaving. Tribune Quintus Tullius stopped a centurion as they left, making sure no one was listening, or so they thought. "Longinus, be sure to keep an eye on Claudius, he's a schemer, a poor one, but one all the same." "Yes sir, and the men are loyal to you sir, not Claudius." "I know." The tribune began to walk towards the mercenarius camp, accompanied by a few trusted legionnaires.
-
*Shadow grins widely at the leaving tribune, watching him with amused eyes* "Now that is a true Roman..." *She turns around, a shimmer settling over her. She vanishes into thin air, only her footprints giving her away. She stalks into the command tent, picking up a chair and sitting down into it before dropping her cloaking. She smirks at Claudius, propping her feet up onto the central table* "Well, boy?"
-
"Who? Who are you?" The tribune was startled by her sudden appearance.
-
"One of your hired mercenaries. Shadow is the name." *She pulls out a knife and removes her gloves before beginning to clean under her nails* "Is this your first time commanding?"
-
"That's not your business, what do you want? Speak quickly before I have my men remove you." He seemed to regain his composure quickly, perhaps the nervousness was a front.
-
*Shadow grins inside, her face showing no emotion* "I want front lines. The only question I have for you is, how destroyed do you want them to be? Massacre, genocide, or extinction? I haven't gotten to play in a while...."

Edited by General Percival: 7/20/2016 7:18:27 PM"Who are you talking about? The dark eldar? They need to be wiped out, completely. But I'm not in command of the mercenarius, that's the other man, Quintus. He agreed to take command of them for the battle."
-
Edited by TwiggierTiger22: 7/22/2016 12:18:59 AM*Shadow only grins more* "I just want to know your position on it. He's next." *Her chair tips over too much and she falls backwards. Before she hits the ground, she appears to twist unnaturally and vanishes as she slips into the shadows. She appears several tents down the line, stepping out of the shadow of an open tent to walk in the direction Quintus took, singing softly* "Oh, to be a queen...."
-
Quintus was in his personal tent, by now he was eating a modest meal of bread, cheese, and roast chicken. He looked up when he heard the singing. "Who's there?"
-
"A mercenary, but it appears I am interrupting your meal. I do apologize." *Shadow ducks into the tent, bowing slightly* "I was merely wishing to meet my commander for this battle."
-
"Well, have a seat then." He said gesturing to a seat across from him. A servant brought a plate and glass for her from the field kitchen.
-
*Shadow slips the servant a coin out of Quintus's view, taking the plate and glass. She sits down carefully, smiling at Quintus* "So, I was wondering, what brings Romans into space? Last I heard of any Romans was back on Old Earth, or Terra, as it is called now."
-
The tribune laughed, fiddling with a ring on his right hand trigger finger. "Everyone always asks that. During the great collapse, before the imperium, our forefathers descended into madness, but there were a few who's minds were not too far gone. They established Rome again on Nova Roma, or new Rome. We rebuilt much of what was lost, and conquered several neighboring systems. When the imperium showed up, they could not take us by force. But we could not resist them forever, so in the interest of peace we became a autonomous republic under the imperium of man."
-
"That was wise of your forefathers. Very few would be able to defeat the Imperium. Thankfully my people have no need to defeat them, for it would be a long and very bloody war." *Shadow takes a sip of the wine in the glass, smiling sadly* "But we would win none the less."
-
"It's not for me to say one way or the other. But I doubt you came here only for a history lesson."
-
"Hardly, but knowing the past is essential to the future." *She grins, then takes a bite out of the bread, pausing to chew for a minute.* "I wish to be on the front lines, projecting a battle-illusion."
-
"What kind of illusion? And why does it require you at the front lines?"
-
"It will appear to our foes that our numbers are more than they actually are. Essentially, I will create multiple images of each warrior I have seen in this camp and will spread them out before us as we attack. Being on the front lines is merely my bloodlust." *She grins, revealing pointed canines* "It has been far too long since I have fought in this type of battle. Call it, relaxation, if you will."
-
He thought for a moment, As if he were playing out the battle in his head both with and without her suggestion. Eventually he nodded. "Alright, I think I can arrange it."
-
*Shadow bows slightly and gets up, setting down her uneaten plate on the table before her* "Oh, and do be careful. It is hard to get paid by a dead man." *She flashes him one last smile before she steps out of the tent. Strolling down the lane between tents, she continues to observe the soldiers, committing their images to memory* "Oh... There once was a man named Larry..."
-
There were ten men to a tent, as she passed each tent she gathered a lot of Faces.
Is there going to be a battle post? Or is this all on this one.
*She delegates one portion of her mind to that task while the rest of her mind holds a conference. 3 beings sit down at a small table, looking at each other. Finally, Wrath speaks up.* "Well, looks like we are finally going to have some fun." *Wisdom nods* "Shadow has been far too bored of recently for anyone to be near her." *Wrath scoffs* "Hah, like they would want to be around us." "But what of this... Boy? I don't trust him." *Hunger speaks up, looking up from a red Solo cup filled with Evil Juice* "He is ambitious. Can we use it against him?" *All three pause for a second, then burst out laughing together. Wisdom finally gets herself back together, still chuckling* "Like he would ever be a threat. But still, we will watch him carefully." *Wrath nods, then slams his palm against the table* "Very well then, meeting adjourned. And someone tell Memory that he's doing a good job. He tends to forget that, I think." *With a final chuckle, they all fade away, leaving behind a small table in the dark fields of Shadow's mind-scape. Outside, Shadow smirks as she continues her song* "He was fat, short, round and hairy. His wife ran the local butcher shop, Where their daughters learned to chop."
