The Top 8 for Street Fighter V at EVO 2016 in Las Vegas just finished, with the only Korean player remaining winning it all ^^ With 6 Japanese players, 1 Korean player and 1 American in top 8, you'd think the odds would be in favour of a Japanese player winning.
It was broadcast on Twitch and on ESPN2, and was the biggest fighting game tournament ever, with 5107 entrants just for Street Fighter V alone! :o There were about 2500 entrants for both Smash Bros Melee and Smash Bros WiiU, and the 6 other games at EVO ranged from 500-1000 entrants.
It was a lot of fun ^_^ The top 8s of every game were really intense. Street Fighter V had a lot of people that weren't expected to be in top 8, but one of the favourites ended up winning it all.
The crowd really got behind LI Joe, the only remaining American. He beat his first opponent, but was knocked out of the tournament by the next person he faced. Even though I'm not an American, I was rooting for him too :)
Things are only going to get bigger and better for the fighting game community ^_^

I would've enjoyed it more if it wasn't such a Nashfest :/ it was fun though with all the people chanting USA haha

Koreans win everything. The last three Evo's have just been Asian top 8's. I miss the diversity. MK was pretty varied at least.
