"I always like a little loot..."
*Shadow stands with the rest of the mercenaries, her custom-made Empire scout-type suit spotless. It covers her like a second skin, from her cosmium-tipped boots to her neck. It is an armor unlike most, for it moves like quicksilver, its cloth-like reactive carbon weave covering its mechanical insides. She wears an old and worn sombrero on her head in place of a helmet, giving her a careless air.*

The tribunes are soon examining the mercenarius, walking through their ranks and talking to a few of them. The paymaster walks through the lines and hands each of them their promised payment.
-
*Shadow nods as she takes hers, her eyes scanning the crowd and the legionaries assembled*
-
There were a lot of them, the legionnaires, one thousand men assembled on the field, not so many in the grand scheme of things but for the time and place they were a large force. They stood in their centuries, waiting for the commanders to give the order to March. The two tribunes came down her row and Quintus stopped to speak with her. "A sombrero, that's an interesting choice of head gear."
-
"A memento, from a mentor." *Shadow chuckles* "He didn't see a reason for a helmet, oddly enough."
-
The tribune shook his head amused. "Aren't you worried about getting a head wound?"
-
"Nah. They'll be too busy dying to shoot me."
-
He laughed. "Confidence, I like it. Just don't get yourself or my men killed. The dark eldar are supposed to do the dying not us."
-
"I shall make no promises. They chose to march, they chose their fate, whether it be for good or ill." *She grins* "And much dying shall be upon our foes."
-
"They did, and there Will be casualties, I'm not new to war. I just like to keep as many of them alive as possible. I will see you in the field."
-
"I hate seeing kids on the field, but it must happen. May your enemies flee before you." *She bows slightly*
-
The tribune nodded and moved on. Soon the army was marching towards the manufactorium. The citizens of general quarters watched as the legionnaires left the safety of their lines.
-
*Shadow looked on, gliding silently alongside the lines of legionaries.* "Odd. Thought the Romans died out long time ago...." *She shrugs, smirking* "Oh well."
-
The army marched for an hour before reaching the out skirts of the manufactorium. There they set up camp and began to pla the attack, sending scouts to gather Intel.
-
*Shadow stands a few feet away from the command tent, facing outwards searching for threats. As she scans with her eyes, her ears tune inwards towards the tent behind her*
-
"Send the mercenarius in first, then use the Auxlilia on the flanks, while our men hold the centre." This was the voice of tribune Claudius, and it echoed the traditional Roman view. "Perhaps. Perhaps. But we don't have as many Auxlilia or mercenarius as preferred."
-
*Shadow chuckles lowly, muttering under her breath* "If only they would let me play..."
-
"Here's what we will do, Claudius you will take the mercenarius around the rear of the eldar and attack, then the legion and Auxlilia will attack from the front. They will be unable to escape, no one survives, I have information that the slaves are just a ruse for something else, though I don't know what." There was silence and then the younger tribune objected. "I don't trust the mercenarius, but you seem to. You take them. I'll lead the men. That way you can execute the plan better."
-
"And if we happen to get killed by friendlies in the confusion.... Heh. Clever." *Shadow grins at the idea of a real fight*
-
"Claudius, you should not be so paranoid. In that case I'll leave soon." There was the sound of armor moving as the tribunes and centurions left the tent, and could be seen leaving. Tribune Quintus Tullius stopped a centurion as they left, making sure no one was listening, or so they thought. "Longinus, be sure to keep an eye on Claudius, he's a schemer, a poor one, but one all the same." "Yes sir, and the men are loyal to you sir, not Claudius." "I know." The tribune began to walk towards the mercenarius camp, accompanied by a few trusted legionnaires.
-
*Shadow grins widely at the leaving tribune, watching him with amused eyes* "Now that is a true Roman..." *She turns around, a shimmer settling over her. She vanishes into thin air, only her footprints giving her away. She stalks into the command tent, picking up a chair and sitting down into it before dropping her cloaking. She smirks at Claudius, propping her feet up onto the central table* "Well, boy?"
-
"Who? Who are you?" The tribune was startled by her sudden appearance.
-
"One of your hired mercenaries. Shadow is the name." *She pulls out a knife and removes her gloves before beginning to clean under her nails* "Is this your first time commanding?"
-
"That's not your business, what do you want? Speak quickly before I have my men remove you." He seemed to regain his composure quickly, perhaps the nervousness was a front.
-
*Shadow grins inside, her face showing no emotion* "I want front lines. The only question I have for you is, how destroyed do you want them to be? Massacre, genocide, or extinction? I haven't gotten to play in a while...."
