"Now that you're awake. You can figure out how we're going to make the mission time."

As I got up from the floor and grabbed my glasses from where I had put them last night, I bit back a retort. I should have asked when we would need to head out, and seen if I couldn't get an alarm clock or the like. Instead, I said, "How much time do we have?"
-
"Fifteen minutes to get ready and get to the ops room."
-
This time, I couldn't contain the snort. "Thanks for the heads up," I said, even as I moved to get geared up. Moving quickly, I managed to get my gear on in around ten minutes, with the rest spent getting a bite of breakfast and asking for directions to the ops room. I walked in just as I finished the ration bar - tasted like boiled shoe leather, but it was something - looked around for Blackburn.
-
He was waiting in front of the ops building looking around. Likely his HUD had a clock in it.
-
"What's the plan, sir?"

His helmet cycles through the spectrums of light to try and detect the movement.

Blackburn shook his head.

"Yes, something, I could have sworn something was there. In any case, the patrol we were supposed to go on got cancelled. Those new arrivals, the legionnaires, already beat us to it. Found some interesting Intel on a dark eldar position."
-
My eyes widened at the name. "I'm sensing an 'and' here," I said warily.
-
"Take a good long think and then guess."
-
I did just that, even though I didn't really need to. When the Corporal didn't start laughing and telling me it was all a joke, I paled. "Well, shit. Please tell me there's some good news in there somewhere?"
-
"We don't have to go, they're giving us the option." But the way the man said it, it seemed like they had given him the option for to choose for the both of them.

Edited by Kell in a Cell: 7/16/2016 12:32:05 AMI gave my CO a flat stare. "Please tell me you didn't think taking a complete rookie to take on Dark freaking Eldar was a good idea."
-
"Of course not, that's why you're not going."
-
I heaved a sigh of relief at that, before pausing. "What about you?"
-
"What about me? I'm going along with the legionnaires to fight. You don't have to come along."
-
"Well, then, best of luck to you, sir. What would you have me do in the meantime?"
-
"Keep practicing, work on your endurance, and if you have any questions, the legionnaires still have five thousand men here, one of them will be able to answer you."
-
"Yes, sir," I said, nodding. Well, looked like it was time for a training montage.
