We've mercilessly destroyed many enemy forces that have threatened us - killed gods, even. However, when does it end? No matter what we do, it seems to have no effect on the world's atmosphere. Yes, yes, I know - multiple timelines, blah blah blah. That's not my point.
My reasoning for this post is that I'm sick and tired of killing endless waves of hostile forces because they threaten our home.
I want to go out and discover, explore, and colonize. I want to scour Saturn's moons. I want to set up a temporary base of operations, and claim what was our's. I don't care if you consider this cowardice, we need to consider the potential of the stars before we root ourselves to a long-lost planet.
I've spent most of my days in Destiny wondering when we'd see the beautiful concept art implemented in-game. I've always strongly disagreed with Dead Orbit and their mission to flee; but the longer I annihilate Hive and their gods, I wonder how much trouble it would be to send an army of Guardians in the magical direction of the Fundament - or at least a long-lost society the Hive conquered many decades ago.
Imagine traveling through the stars, landing on a barren wasteland of a space station orbiting Neptune; or perhaps finding the ruins of ancient Ecumene technology and attempting to harness it for our own success! The potential Bungie has in their hands is astonishing.
You have to wonder...
Why chain us to Alpha Lupi's current residency during its dormant time when we could be out claiming our future?

Edit: Lol, thanks everyone for the replies! So many of you agree, and I very much appreciate it. Also, so no one else says anything about it in their reply: I can't wait till August, as I've been following No Man's Sky since I first heard about it.
Edit 2: I already have No Man's Sky pre-ordered, so please stop suggesting it - haha! I am, however, glad to see the fanbase for it present here as well!

Edited by the phoenix362: 7/4/2016 5:24:36 PMIf you're tired of just fighting the hive what I would personally like to see is more on what went on in Jupiter. Just started reading the lore and went in order, got to human 1 and one of the lines mentioned something about "Jupiter and Mercury and Venus" why not let us explore more of Mercury and Jupiter and fight different enemies. I'd like to see that.

I'm tired as well. I've stopped killing Servitors when on patrol. The Fallen need them

I was going to comment that you will love no man's sky. I came to the post and see a bunch of posts about no man's sky. Community is bae.

When I got the game after hearing about it from a friend pre-taken king this is what I hoped it would be. That hope slowly dwindled. With the same maps. The same content. It's now unequivocally dead. :)

Sounds to me like you want to play No Man's Sky not destiny lol
-
Look up No Man's Sky
-
No Man's Sky comes out in a few weeks. kthxbai
-
We need a Fallen - Human alliance. The Cabal are too dense. The Hive will never accept. Maybe the Vex will forgive us.
-
Omg ur so stupid. U think bungo would add that amazing idea? U want roi to be 10000000$$$$???
-
Odds are, No Man's Sky will be the cure for addiction to Destiny. By that I mean the bad kind of addiction that no matter how bad the thing is you keep doing it.
-
So minecraft? Thats what this sound like to me.
-
Maybe in Destiny 6
-
Wish I could play No Man's Sky. Lowly Xbox player here ;-;
-
Bitch a wanna whoop some evil guardian asses
-
Don't worry, us titans have the city under lockdown. Go enjoy yourself, Guardian.
-
Go play no mans sky. Maybe then you will get your fix. I enjoy Destiny and accept it for what it is.
-
I like your idea , I also feel like we should have a choice to engage certain enemies such as fallen and cabal , they seem the least interested in killing guardians such as the house of exiles
-
You can do that for $99.99 in Destiny DLC 17
-
I agree completely as a Hunter my desire to explore is like an addiction, and even though I dont mind protecting the innocent and removing the threats from our planet and the traveler its not where my heart lies. My wishes lie beyond the horizon, beyond the conflict. I want I need to see beyond the stars.
I really do agree lol that above is true but its from my hunters standpoint but as a player I would love to see destiny triple its size or more. Bungie has created an excellent game with untapped possibility, and id like to see those possibilties come to reality.
I can't wait for Mass Effect: Andromeda either.
-
We probably wouldn't last long on the Fundament. You know...with the God Wave & all
-
This!
is awesome
The concept of a Guardian is fundamentally flawed. They attract more danger than they fight off. After killing Crota, we got Oryx on our ass. And now that we've become such a pest to the Fallen, they've found SIVA, hence ROI. The ideology of a Guardian must change if we want to truly want to venture outside the City, otherwise every attempt at colonizing will result in a shit ton of Mountain Glenns.
rwby references ftw
Kinda like in No Mans Sky, but maybe not as expansive
