So for those who didn't know, the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman is currently available on VOD services such as iTunes, Google Play, VUDU, etc. It releases on Blu-Ray/DVD on July 19th. It includes 30 minutes of extra footage and a R rating.
I gotta be honest. I doubt this extended cut is going to do anything to improve the film. Let's be honest people. Batman v Superman was an absolute mess. I'm not trying to upset the DC fanbase. I love Batman, he's my favorite DC comic superhero and my 2nd favorite comic superhero in general right behind Spider-Man. I had super high hopes for the film. And it was a let down. The plot was an incoherent mess. Henry Cavill's Superman is wooden as hell. Which is an insult to Plank from Ed, Eddie, and Eddy because even he has more emotion than Cavill's Superman and her is an cartoon inanimate object. Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was God awful. Albeit he wasn't playing the traditional Lex, but Lex's son Alexander Luthor Jr. We won't even discuss that piss poor excuse for Doomsday. Let's not forget the fact that Zack Snyder and David S Goyer's dumb asses thought cramming multiple story arcs together would work. You've got The Dark Knight Returns, Death of Superman (if you havent seen the movie I don't care about spoiling it, I'm saving you 2 and a half hours. Yes Superman dies.), and Flashpoint Paradox to name a few.
Other than fixing a couple of pacing issues, 30 minutes isn't going to fix shit. I know some will try and defend this sad movie. Good luck with that. My opinion stands unchanged. I only hope that the 3rd DCEU film, Suicide Squad will finally get the DCEU itself back on track.
