Speculation is it would cost at least $1,500 plus to build a P.C comparable to the the Xbox Scorpio with the estimated specs and disclosed ones.
How much do you think it will cost in winter 2017 when it's meant to be released?
Bearing in mind that new AMD chipsets are coming out that will be cheaper.

Do you think Xbox One games for Scorpio, Slim and the current console will have settings like P.C letting you switch the settings for the resolution and the frame rate etc.?
What are your thoughts? Will you upgrade? Does VR Oculous Rift compatibility excite you? Sure everyone of us has an HDR 4K TV in every room =#
But seriously does the Scorpio appeal to current Xbox One owners?
What about some of the current PS4 owners that will have to switch as all they have been on about since launch of current gen consoles is what resolution and framerate a game runs at on each of the consoles. Surely if the Scorpio is the most powerful console ever released they must have to switch?
Those that have been here in #Gaming for a while know the sort of people this is aimed at, this is not on about all PS4 gamers.
Sure this would be good for MS but not very good for Sony. That's not good news for any of us. No matter what console(s) you play or prefer!
Competition is good for us customers so please leave the fanboy bs at the door, as a gamer you shouldn't want either Nintendo, Sony or Xbox fail.
Will you pass on Scorpio and build a $1,500 P.C instead?
Based on the current cost of technology.
Edit: Edited for clarity as some have got the wrong idea of this post and its intention. Also added another question.

PS4K end of discussion

If the same games are released on Xbox one I really don't see the point in upgrading. Until it has some exclusives I just see it as a waste of money. I mean most of us use consoles for simplicity and the cheaper costs of not having to upgrade our graphics cards every couple of years. Why would I want to spend another $500 on a console that runs the same games that my Xbox one does? If I cared about the best visuals and performance I'd play on PC.

The Scorpio has basically cancelled my plans for building a PC. I just value the accessibility of consoles over the adaptability of pcs, so if a console can give me PC like performance with no complications I'm all for it. I can't even begin to guess on a price however. Microsoft is shooting for 6 teraflops and the newly released gtx 1070 is right around the area and it costs $500 just by itself. Adding in all of the other things needed to use power like that is going to add up fast.

Btw they are marketing the Scorpio inside a 500$ pricepoint

Edited by Krash Nebula: 6/29/2016 3:53:04 PMI like consoles for the casual ease of play with friends. I like pc for the ability to do just about everything and more insanely good. The scorpio will most likely be 800$-1200 considering its specs and I cannot see myself spending that money on a console. For that ill just upgrade my pc a little bit for much less. I like sonys direction more keeping it closer to a half step optional console rather than a full step. I purchased my xbox one about 3 years ago and built my 900$ pc a year ago. That being said I refuse to buy another console for ~1000$ already especially when xbox exclusives will start coming out on windows 10. If I end up eventually buying a new console I highly doubt it will be an Xbox. I fear that this is the start of a shitty console cycle.

It's going to be like $800 bucks. So whack because obviously, I need it in my life.
-
No matter how you slice it; it still will not cost $1500 to build a comparable machine. It doesn't even cost that much to build a 6 tflop machine right now; let alone a year and a half from now.
-
A $1500 PC would run circles around Scorpio, don't inflate prices please.

Probably around $600 or less, they know the word about selling consoles costing more than that, look at PS3's launch tag and Xbox Ones.
-
No way 1500.00. It may be worth that but will be a loss leader. I bet 500 - 750

After all the crazy crap Microsoft has pulled on it's users this gen, I'm amazed people like this entertain the notion of still being loyal customers to them. R.I.P.: -Lionhead Studios -343 Industries -Kinect -Orginal XBone before everyone got pissed about having to be connected and no used games. -RROD

I think Microsoft is tired of not being on top of the console market so they are investing 100% in Windows Pc and the price will be comparative to a surface tablet which was $900. Hopefully Microsoft will double down on their plans to be different, like Nintendo does, instead of backing down and becoming a ps4 clone like they did after the announcement of the Xbox One

I'm guessing the system will optimize itself based on what it is displaying on. Basically newer games will be made in 4k and will downscale automatically to 1080p when displayed on a 1080p tv/monitor. Any current 1080p games out will just be upscaled to 4k allowing for a slight increase in quality.
-
Don't forget they're mass producing these. I can promise you manufactures will cut a deal and sell the components at a cheaper cost. They are Microsoft, not some guy with a hobby.
-
No less than 600. And I'm low balling it lol
-
Unless I hit the lottery I probably won't buy it until Xbox one gets dropped
-
While it is true that i think the ps4 is more powerful than the xbox one im not dumbing my ps4 for the scrorpio considering all the progress i have in games and the games i have in my acc plus ps neo

Need to see more details before I think about getting it. After hearing that Halo 6 will be on Windows 10 I'm either getting Scorpio or dumping 2 grand on a custom PC.
will have settings like P.C letting you switch the settings for the resolution and the frame rate etc.?
This is something I am interested in. If they 'unlock' the game so it will run as well as the hardware can, this means an uneven framerate, then we will see a difference in game performance between Xbone and Scorpio. If the developer has the resolution and framerate locked, as they should on a console, but they don't reoptimize it or unlock it, we will not see a difference. I would expect that some big games would at least up the framerate if they aren't going to run at 4k. In the end it is all up to the devs though. I like the choice that MS is giving players. I will be a customer of the Scorpio.

What's the point of the Scorpio again? Better graphics? Seems pointless when the PS4 does essentially the same for cheaper. You're not going to be getting any bigger games on the Xbox because of it, as developers still have to develop on the xbone. And if it costs more than $500 then it will most definitely flop. I see it failing no matter what, regardless of price, as I see the average consumer simply not wanting or needing to buy it.

Anyone speculating that Microsoft is going to release a $1,500 console is out of their -blam!-ing mind.

You should have left the fan boy crap at the door. Gg dumb ass

I don't get why you wouldn't just build a pc and this is coming from a console guy.
