Lone matchmaking punishes skilled players

Firstly this is a small rant on why I hate crucible matchmaking when playing alone. Second please think about any argument you have before commenting And Third Let me know if you feel the same way I do Is it just me and all my friends or does matchmaking in team games unfairly put the odds against you? I've been playing Destiny crucible since its launch and have seen it time and time again. I get it, skilled based matchmaking is a thing. But isn't it a little unfair when a relatively strong team is pitted against you and your random team who every time play like they just had several amateur lobotomies? It's actually absurd to expect I single maybe a pair of decently skilled players to carry a team of chimpanzees to victory against a team of players who are using good weapons and all have roughly the same skill level as you. This is totally not fair for anyone in my eyes. Not all people have friends who play Destiny anymore or even crucible for that matter and they shouldn't be punished if they want to play a team game on their own and basically be told by matchmaking "Ok we know from your record your an extremely good player, so we're making things a bit trickier and giving you some low skilled players so you can carry them to an easy victory" "But-" I hear you all say "why not play trials of Osiris? The matchmaking puts connection first before skill and you only need two more people" Here's the problem I have with that argument 1. You NEED 2 more players to even enter 2. It gets harder and harder as you win 3. Trials of Osiris can actually be stressful and full of try hards And 4. It only comes on the weekends I'm not trying to brag when I say I find myself constantly in the top 2-3 in most crucible games I play but still lose because my team drags me down as I'm forced to fight ridiculously stupid odds like 4 to 1 as my 3 other team members ran out and died immediately. I love playing crucible even when I get annoyed sometimes by repetitive weapons appearing in my death screen. What I don't like is when I'm forced to carry others and barely squeeze out a victory because I get 25-30+ kills in a game while the guy under me only gets 10. Bungie I love doing trials I really do. The best part about it is the randomness of its matchmaking coupled with its focus on connection based matchmaking. But I really hate being forced to play nothing but rumble because I can't win a match in team games because the rest of my team either gets stomped by the enemy or doesn't play the objective and sometimes both. I really want you Bungie to try finding a way to split the good players from the bad. Like making two full teams of bad players play against one another and vice versa for skilled players. Enough of this mixing the skill levels stuff and make the competitive scene more fair for everyone. Not just in weapon balancing.

  • Just play the freelance playlist. Yesterday I played 7 games of clash and lost all but 1 game, where the other team quit on spawn) and my kd was 0.9. Today I played 8 games in 3v3 freelance and won 6 out of 8 with a k/d of about 1.8.

  • The reason why we get matched against gods and get team mates that are having a stroke mid game is because bungie wants you to maintain a 50% win ratio.

I don't like SBMM but if you need friends go find some. I understand there's solo player's but all honesty, Destiny is fun with friends. Majority of the people I play with I don't even know in peraon, but I have been playing with many of them for a long time and could probably write a biography about them. Moral of the story find a group or clan you connect with and you'll always have a fireteam.

That's my issue with cruicible. With iron banner, I CANNOT stand getting stuck with randoms vrs an entire enemy team of 6 clan members. It's absolutely terrible matchmaking.

    • If I had a dollar for every time the person who placed 2nd on my team had a <0.75 k/d I'd buy Bungie and fix the matchmaking myself. Honest to God when I lose simply because the enemy team had three people go even compared to the negatives on my team I'll be the first to admit I'm a little salty.. Multiple games where I can go 20/4 and come out with an L. lol

I can honestly say being on top doesn't mean you carried your team... especially in Control. If you play solo, like I do 100% of the time, you learn to manage your style with the team. And that means if you want to win, you focus on capping zones and controlling them. I can sit at a zone and defend it, but I may not get a kill. Does that mean I'm a loser? Or, does it mean I did my part while you made the kills and we are both equally useful? In other words, just play WITH your team. I tested this, and I purposely sat back just getting kills and lost most my games. Scoring high, but losing. Why? Because I didn't care to help capture zones. So when we were down 1-2 zones, no one made the effort to capture. Thus, we lose. Before... I'd be the one capturing... I'd be the meat shield, I'd die more often... but we'd win.

      • The worst is iron banner, every game it's a 6 man fireteam vs 6 solo players then usually 1 guy leaves and is never replaced.

      • What the title needs to say is "matchmaking punishes skilled players" It doesn't matter if they fly solo. Bungie hates Anyone with a better than 50% win rate.

I agree with you mate. I commented on destiny's Facebook page and was met with "get gud" or "blaming others for your own suckage". I'm not the best player by any means (avg at best), but I get paired with some pretty bad players who get like 5 kills and 15 deaths.

            • I agree SBMM is flawed, BUT it's still better than CBMM. They should just do it like halo did. Everyone in the game should be relatively close in terms of skill. In a perfect world every game should come down to who clutches at the end, This all my opinion though

Until Bungie makes a Freelance playlist for Iron Banner, solo players are always going to be at a disadvantage. But that's okay. Statistically speaking, it's impossible to win 'em all, and so long as you complete the match you have the chance to get those sweet IB drops/Infusion fuel. I'm a solo player too, and yeah, it is often an uphill battle when you aren't coordinating with..."competent"...players, but if it really bothers you so much...there are ways of increasing your might...

The issue is that it takes a player, me for example... oh this guy has a 2 KD so surround him with sub-par players who always go.negative to guarantee wins and losses. It's aimed at 50/50 win/loss.

                • I know, they happily head to sniper bottle neck areas, try to be the first to grab heavy ammo, when this is obviously a mistake, try to be the ones with a first kill instead of follow their teammates, yeah I know what you're saying, but I'm mostly a solo player so all I do is turn on my mic in hopes someone on the other side hear my warnings
