I was wondering why destiny isn't part of esports considering Overwatch was released about a month ago and already there are teams and tournaments for the game, but destiny has been out for almost 2 years and there hasn't been a real tournament yet for the game. What are your guys thoughts on this?

Lag...Some weapons drop with higher aim assist than others...Lag...no custom matches...Lag...some weapon rolls are better than others...Lag...imbalance of classes..Lag...no dedicated servers...Lag...and the main reason...LAG
-
Because it's a terrible pvp game that sweaty halo nerds insist on trying to make competitive.
-
No custom matches. RNG gear attainment. Simple as that.
-
It's only competitive in trials and that's a lag fest. No custom games or lan play limits it alot
-
You obviously never played the pvp portion of this game.
-
its a pve game with a pvp add on. Witness the crappy peer-to-peer connections, no private lobbies, no custom matches, no ranked, unranked lists. Can't be competitive by asking people to queue / quit /rinse / repeat. Setting up a tournament is impossible as the point is to get people to watch it
-
The game is unbalanced, the servers and lag are ridiculous, and the most important thing is that it doesnt have private matches.
-
Literally don't know why you're asking such a stupid question when you should know the answer since you're talking about e sports
-
Over watch was made by blizzard a company with a long history in e-sports. Destiny is made by bungie a company that would just fcuk it up. Also the game is nowhere near stable enough with the constant nerfs to work in an e-sport format
-
With people red-barring and skipping across the map? Besides, I couldn't give two squirts of piss about 'e-sports'
-
30fps, bad connections, lack of balance...
-
Because the Vex keep transporting players through time during matches.
-
To much variability
-
You need balance and stable connections. Bungie couldn't balance a sheet of paper on a table.

Because of the huge divide between where PvE and PvP stands. Destiny was originally more geared towards PvE and cooperative play while the Crucible wasn't focused on too heavily compared to the latter. This is also where the Year 1-Year2 problem begins to show. A helluva lot of content focused on PvE was left behind in Year 1 and was made redundant. Chances are that after TTK dropped no one really bothered with the Archon Priest Strike because there simply was no motivation to run it other than for the replay value, but when they brought it back as a "revamped Taken version" I bet more people jumped on that. The way I'm beginning to see it is that the Destiny devs are trying to put more focus towards the PvP aspect of the game, but because initially they probably didn't really put as much time and effort towards it is why it's pretty crappy and poor-quality right now. Destiny's PvP simply isn't designed for getting the best out of competitive play, at least not in its current state. I do not expect to see any improvement until Destiny 2 after being around for a year to see how's it gotten to where it is.

Casual shooter, Changing meta, 30fps, No Custom games, Lag, lack of support for pro players.
-
Developer incompetence
-
Because the pvp is imbalanced. Though much better these days.
-
No way to have a level playing field without limiting it to vendor rolled legendaries and exotics. How would you feel if you entered a tourney but couldn't do well because RNG wasn't on your side.
-
Edited by Wells: 6/28/2016 7:29:02 PMDestiny focuses more on fun and player interaction than a competitive environment. I wouldnt have it any other way.
-
Good weapons are decided by RNG perk rolls. Rampant balancing problems. An unstable meta that keeps getting gutted with nerfs. There's no way a true competitive scene can flourish.
-
Destiny literally cannot suppory it. No private lobbies or a way to LAN.
-
Because Destiny is an unbalanced pile of shit.
-
They need dedicated servers first. Cheap asses!
-
How can you have esports without dedicated servers?
-
What?!?!? Destiny Esport?? Are you mental? Destiny was not desinged to be a esports you can clearly see this or not?Overwatch on the other hand has all prepositions to be a esport. Its very well balanced and its based on teamplay comparing to Destiny...
