Firebolts (and sunsingers in general) while technically performing on average, were extremely potent in 3v3 matchtypes like elimination because of their abilities. If you recall from the twitch stream before the Warlock nerf for stormcaller and buff for voidwalkers earlier this year, bungie was already looking for a way to nerf them but had not yet figured out how to do it without breaking the entire class.

i do recall the stream and i believe the only reason they where looking into it was the complaints. they had not figured out how to do it without wrecking the class because sunsinger is all about damage over time and now there is virtually no damage over time with them.

Edited by Fuzzy Ice Wolf: 6/24/2016 1:21:15 PMCharts from that time period have to back up the complaints. From what I have seen firsthand, 100% of Sunsingers I fought in 3v3 matchtypes used the same build: Firebolts with Touch of Flame and Viking Funeral, often coupled with Scorch shield and Fireborn. As for the post nerf, the dps potential is still there, you just need to be a little more creative about it. My friends' post nerf build that he made for CoE lets him rampage in Crucible pretty easily. His build is entirely dps based.

They did destroy sunsinger. all they needed to do was just have the burn burn for less time. now firebolts and solar grenades are not good. also firebolts only tick for 4 damage when it was 7. this is not a bug its only a bug on incendiary grenades. what so they want firebolts to be weaker then incendiary grenades which is bull? leaving only fusion grenades for a real option. they did not want to nerf them it was only people complaing in my opinion that made this change. I would of been happy if they just had viking funeral burn for less time but now its not really useful at all . it not only destroys firebolts effectiveness but also solar grenades as well. sunsinger is dependant on grenades because its its super. if any class should have the best grenades its sunsinger. they tried to tweak sunsinger which would of been ok but they destroyed it.
